I think that’s them all updated although might have missed the odd one?

With Gaston confirmed as leaving we look to have numbers but not quality at TH. There seems a big gap between Afoa in proven experience and whoever is next in line.

Particularly given we've not even played Faletau in the Championship for ages now that gives us 3 THs for next season. Seems a little light to me. Would like to see one more with experience come in.

I thought it looked like Gaston was out to show what we were missing last night, though it was a great performance all round although he did seem to tweak his calf again at the end of the first half. I've just noticed that the TH Lay is not listed on the leaving players announcement. I know he was only on a short term contract until the end of the season, but could he now be saying. He's not been great in the scrum but does look to be improving and has a mobile all round game with some experience of the higher level unlike some of the champ props, so could we be keeping him.

I suspect we might be, but I would much rather have kept Gaston.

Right off we go, Bear or no bear, what is this mad rampaging pack going to be next season, anymore joiners??, not sure, thats quite a big squad as it is, any bigger surely you have too many nebch sitters for them to be any use. But still, A league, Anglo Welsh and Challenge cup, it will be relentless and within two weeks, there will have been 10 out with injuries
So admitedly I've not seen some of these guys and I've not watched enough rugby this season, but here is a stab at the starting 15 for Bristol v Bath where it has been drilled into the team that losing to Bath is worse than nuclear war
1.Y.Thomas
2.Fenton-Wells
3.Afoa
4.Vui
5.Muldowney
6.Jefferies
7.D.Thomas
8.Lautua
9.Stirzaker
10.Madigan
11. Edwards
12. Pisi
13. Tovey
14. Morahan
15. Piatau C
I still reckon Tovey is an outside bet for the world cup and will ghost past anyone, thats why he is in there, otherwise, what do I know
Absolutely no idea how competative that squad will be, all I know is that it will be the same as last year, they will be kicking it to the corner and mauling us over the line to get a few tries and demoralising the heck out of the team.

I was not at the Q&A, but from the feedback received and what I have read, the clear message was there are no more signings, and one person claimed to have had a discussion afterwards with Lam who said he felt if the new squad could adapt to the 'style' of play he wants it was a competitive team for the Premiership. Assume this also means there are no more announcements either? On that basis there are some holes in key positions and although there are some outstanding players there are also many unknowns and throw in to the mix a coaching structure that is far from proven and I not sure it will be good enough to survive next season.

We're not just going to survive, we're going to be competitive! Actually there was no clear message about signings because no one asked. Of course they would probably have said if they were able, to calm things down. Which might mean no more additions or simply that players are still under contact now and won't be announced until playing commitments are finished.

i personally think we'll line up something as follows if there are no more anouncements:
afoa
thacker/malton
thomas/thiede/armstrong
vui
muldowney/joyce
heenan/thomas
jeffries/lam
luatua
stirzaker
madigan
pincus
hurrell
leiua
morahan
piutau
i think at least 2 of the champ signings will become effective starters just unsure as to who yet. Still not convinced in the slightest that we will have a 'monster pack' especially considering PLs style and the lack of beef in the 2nd row.
Also not sure we can get away with Pisi as starting 12 next season. When we were on the back foot against Jersey he seemed somewhat predictable to our detriment which i personally put down to him being at that stage of his career where hes lost a bit of his running game.
ive said it before and ill say it again; with the squad that we have, we are 3 or 4 key injuries away from a bang average team at best imo!

Afoa is a tight head prop (and I would think is a clear first choice) - backed up by Thiede and Armstrong.
Thomas is a loosehead and will probably be vying with Jordan Lay (also Woolmore).
Ollie Dawe will hopefully be developing and force his way into contention covering both sides.

thanks for the prop knowledge Prop Joe! I was a back so i don't really feel qualified to predict the pack (thus the indecisiveness)

Still think we are short of a the prem. experienced TH back up to 34 year old Afoa. I would really question listing Falateu in that position on the front page. Don't know if he any Prem experience, but certainly looked out of his depth in some matches this season.

Updated with Holmes & Lay. Still need a starting 2nd row! Really hope the rumour of Tuitupou has legs or we are underpowered by a distance.

Updated with Academy ins and outs plus moved Junior academy to separate list to give a realistic view of depth to call upon.

What about Schalk Brits as a short term starting Hooker. Like most of them his throwing can be a bit loose, but must be one of the best ball in hand and would have motivations for next season:

Erasmus has also told Brits that if he finds a new club he will be in his plans for next year's World Cup.

Must admit, I had much the same thought...
