Sale Sharks' Under-18 and Under-16 Academy squad are off 'over the hill' for three nights.

Academy Manager Brendan Thomas says, "It's the first time we've taken two groups at once, so it'll be a challenge, staffing and resource-wise. Thanks to the financial help from the Supporters' Club (6,850), and our own club obviously, we're in a position to go ahead.

"We'll initially be based at Queen Ethelburga's College near York, a boarding school with facilities so fantastic that they were available to international squads when the Rugby World Cup was here in 2015. They'll be perfect for us!

"Both age groups are playing games against Yorkshire Carnegie in shortened versions of the game, as it's outside of the season and it's also in preparation for the National Festivals the following week, when the same rules and timings will be in place.

"On the Monday, we'll stay for another day of recovery, using the pool and analysing what happened in the matches. On the Tuesday, we'll visit Action Zone, some fifteen miles away, where there's going to be combat warfare in teams, plus activities such as axe throwing, archery and shooting: time for team bonding among players and staff.

"We then head North to Durham, where we'll be staying at Barnard Castle School. We'll be sharing accommodation with Newcastle Falcons Under-18 and Under-16 squads overnight.

"On Wednesday morning, the Under-16's start us off with a game against the Falcons in the same format. In the afternoon, the Under-18's face the Newcastle and Ulster Academies in a three-way shortened tournament.

"Falcons are hosting a barbeque before we head back to Carrington, early evening. We'll always have between nine and eleven staff on hand. Neil Briggs, Warren Spragg, Noel Speed and Darren Lamon will be lead coaches.

"The best feedback that we receive from players and parents is that the quality time spent together builds up relationships, not only for the season, but for life. It's massively beneficial for what we're trying to achieve with the players in preparation for professional rugby."

Yes but exactly where. I'm in the north east and would like to be pitch side. County Durham is a big place!

I'm assuming Barney School but it isn't implicitly stated.
