Rugby on telly

For anyone who isn't a cycling fan and doesn't like the sunshine, there is a good opportunity to spend the day on the couch with a few beers. The various Twickenham cup finals are being shown on Freesports (channel 95 on Freeview), beginning at 11.00 with our neighbours Old Otliensians in the Junior Vase.

If I had all the money I've spent on drink ..... I'd spend it on drink.

Thanks Albert. Good to know that there is someone who has not yet swapped their rugby boots for cycle wheels. With the TdY finishing and with the Giro starting, followed by the TDF and the Vuelta I suspect the next few months will be all wheels!(Sm121)

Looking good for Ensians at half-time. Now back to the bikes!

Watched the French D2 play-off final on Eurosport: Grenoble contre Perpignan. Perhaps a lucky omen for us in that the RU team associated with RL Catalan Dragons have won promotion.

I am extremely wary of using French rugby as a good example to follow, due to their national team's underperformance. But they have lots of positives at club level that we don't have: will do a bit of research and make a post.

Anyone else got Top14 or Pro D2 experience to offer?

I would say that our new scrum half (demi de mele) will have been playing against some quality players at a standard above The Greene King IPA Championship.
