Many thanks for everything you have done and good luck with the Academy role.

I have always liked seeing Matt, you know what you are going to get, week in week out, 100% commitment.

Massive congratulations and thanks to an all-round Tigers great: no, not one of the superstars, just a solid clubman who never gave less than 100% for the team.

If Matt can instil in the Academy boys just a little of his own work ethic and dedication to the club, we are bound to reap the rewards.

Good luck, Matty.

Had to happen some time but sad all the same. A really great clubman and if some others had put half as much effort into it has he does, we would not be in the position we are now in.

Like his Dad always gave his all for the Tigers. Would bleed Red, White & Green. Will miss him on the pitch but really glad to see him staying and helping bring the youngsters through. Disappointed he was not nominated for Outstanding Service award vote. #ThanksSmithy

Best wishes to him.
Always Mr Reliable.
Loved it when he packed down in a scrum too to make up for someone on the naughty step.

He was awarded the outstanding service award at the end of the 2015/16 season. Much deserved as well.

100% commitment every week and he played across the back line allowing others to shine in preferred positions. Tigers would have lost many games they won without his defensive commitment and leadership.

Cheers Smithy, hopefully you find similar success coaching the academy.

Great servant of the club and old school one club man . Great news he will be coaching the academy , keeping the old culture and organisational memory alive for many years. Thanks for many wonderful memories and that try against Saints in 2016 at Welford Road . Here

Watching him in the rugby pass documentary he is 100% a natural coach.

Hopefully we will have some more great memories to come with him as a coach, to go with the ones we already have like that cheeky dummy highlighted by Penguin.

I still recall him watching the games on the terrace stood next to us with his Dad, one of the last one club men, and I hope he remains for many more to come.

Glad you're still with the Club Matt, and long may that be so [successfully, naturally]

He'll be missed, the cmmittment was never questioned a true clubman. We'll see fewer and fewer of his kind.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy second career.

The one always in my minds eye was also against Stains. But the other side, closer to the Crumbie. Maybe a year or two earlier ??
(I'll go try find it in a bit)

Headbutting his elbow like that was very poor form.

This one?

26 seconds in on the video, took Ashton over from about 15m out... "Ashton pulling Alesana's hair match"...Alex T and Wood red carded (Ashton sloped off....) also the game where Foden fell over and cried (Sm100) whilst trying (and failing) to stop Agulla scoring the winning try....

I digress slightly...sorry.
