CVC now in for the Six Nations.
Percentage apparently worth £100m to each nation.

Big picture = bad move. Likely to kill progress for the Tier 2 nations...

The 6 Nations is probably the only reason people have any knowledge of the game; if it goes to pay per view watch the knowledge and interest in the game slide even further down the scale.

Agreed Jim. Any deal with CVC must insist that the sport remains on free to air TV.

I can see this as potentially being very good for the game. I get the impression CVC's plan is to buy into all the major european rugby competitions and unite them where they're all pulling in the same direction

If CVC want rugby as a big attraction across Europe, they will want more opportunity for pan-European competition. They could provide the impetus that would force creation of a multi-tiered European nations tournament, in which promotion and relegation would be a major talking and viewing factor.

Lol, that’s not going to happen is it? They’ll be calling the tune.

Yeah, it seems like both of the big movements to change the international game have at their heart to take it off Free TV, would be a terrible, terrible mistake. Even BT and the Premiership have been trying to get games on free tv and cricket has set up an entire new version to do it!

Will have to excuse the possibly offensive term, but one of the F1 team bosses, who benefited from the commercial agreements brought by CVC during their tenure, said something along the lines of:
"they raped F1 and moved on"
CVC will bleed rugby dry by making the rich richer, and walk away when there's nothing left to squeeze.

I've never thought of F1 as a victim, though.

Money as a whole in the sport is quite a lot yes, but all skewed towards the "major" teams. CVC contributed massively to the smaller teams fading away and the big ones getting stronger - they'll only do the same in rugby

On the '5 billion' thing. Over 12 years, split equally between 12 teams that's like £30m a year, right? From my idle googling the RFU seems to get about £45m a year from broadcast rights currently...
