anny Cipriani has signed for Gloucester and will join the West Country club after leaving Wasps at the end of this season.
The fly-half was recalled to the England squad last week, three years after his last Test appearance. The selection by Eddie Jones ended any prospect of a transfer to France, despite lucrative offers with Champions Cup finalists Racing 92 thought to be among the interested parties across the Channel.

Great result for the neighbours, that

The Times this morning says that "when Cipriani first talked to Wasps about staying, it is understood that his wage demands were about 400,000 a year."

It also of course says that Gloucester will be paying much less as English clubs, after his selection by Jones, knew that he needed them more than they needed him given his need, if he was to play for England, to stay in the country.

Still, the figure of 400k - if this is indeed correct - is yet another indicator of the salary levels now expected by the top players even if this was only a opening bid in the negotiations.

Great signing for Glaws that.

Good bit of business. Was expecting him to go to France.

Agree Abmatt, any negative will be counterweighed by his positives, he will revel in the Kingsholm crowd and perhaps be the Glos player that Ryan Lamb didn't become.

He certainly fits the style they've tried to play this year.

That could be the piece of the puzzle that takes Glaws into the Top 4 next year.

Indeed it could be just that - they have the ability in the backs and he brings more at 10 than pretty much anyone else just at the moment.400k - well if that's a bit of a premium to get you in to the top 6 or top 4 it has to be worth it. He makes mistakes but for the most part is someone who gives his side something extra

Precisely - no one is error free - and he invariably is in profit - as it were

I bet Billy Burns is chuffed.

Whatever you do, do it safely!

Yes, I agree, Billy Burns - a really good 10 in my opinion - must be feeling pretty miffed - just like his big brother is at Barf. I think the whole family is feeling pretty miffed and thinking that they have upset the rugby gods somewhere along the way!
Cast your mind back about ten months or so, we were looking for a ten ourselves (what's new) and Bill Bolsolver said that we had offered Owen Williams exactly the same package as Glaws.....so imagine how HE must feel now!
Still, with Jono and Duncan lined up Owen Williams will have to look for a new home.
Something like ' slings of outrageous fortune ' come to mind!

Elsewhere........Charlie Matthes has signed for Wasps, so I guess that kills the chances of him joining us as has been mooted.
