Don't know too much about Chim, other than he seems to have done a great job for Warriors.

Statement doesn't say anything about where he is going other than "he is to leave Sixways to take up a new opportunity in rugby outside the Midlands".

Any inside information any one.......?

A great shame. At least he seems to have gone for perfectly valid reasons, but I wish we could have kept him.

Thanks Chim.

Got to know Chim and Mark Hewitt a little better @ the London Floodlit 7's 2yrs ago and both always had time for a chat on A-league mondays and @ away trips.

His legacy will be the current crop of academy players he has brought through who have excelled in the A-League and particularly the 1st team plus the lads who are presently in the academy.

Good luck in your future endeavours Chim.Good to see you back someday.

Good shout! Although he did say that he was returning to South Africa as he’s been away from his family for too long.

I’d have liked it to be him though

Best of luck to him in his future position he has bought through a number of promising youngsters which has been great to see.

Olivier??

Suspect we'll see him more in a Corporate role, IF he does come back.

I'd go for someone like James Percival. Link with the club/area, currently coaching in France, etc.

I think nurturing young talent is a very specialised field, and relevant experience in that should trump local connections, that they have coached adult games, that we have heard of them etc.

Let's put it this way. Without knowing he was in charge of the academy - who the hell is Chim Gale? He has some playing experience, but that ended at 20. What Chim Gayle was, however, was Rugby Close at Dean Close School, Cheltenham.

As much as Wynand Olivier is a great rugby player, his qualification is that he is able at playing, and we have heard of him. We have no idea how good he is at imparting knowledge, man management, program development etc,

Same with James Percival, yes he has local connections, yes he has coached adults. BUt this is a different kettle of fish. Also, I work in London, if someone said they were better at my job simply because they are from London, I would be insulted.

There have been a lot of the young lads on Twitter saying their thanks to Chim Gale this morning - he seems to have left a very real impression on these high quality academy products.

The best person for the job will be someone with experience in working with young guys, and helping them with the very distinct challenges that age group face (not saying they are easier of harder than adult ones, but they are distinct) - and nurturing them through a period where not only their rugby skill and strength is growing, but their confidence and resilience too.

For my money - the best person for this job is probably going to be someone we haven't heard of.

I know that robs us all of speculating about former players, but that's my opinion.

Wonder if he’s off back to Glaws as their head of academy has moved onto Scarlett’s

It shows that we also have to fight hard to keep talented coaches as well.

I think the point some are making is that Olivier hasn't worked with teenagers before. Windo has and wouldn't be a bad call given the criteria discussed. However, I'm not sure how many of us know what makes a good academy coach.

Windo would be the sort of person that should be looked at - teaching is a highly nuanced profession - experience is vital. Being a good practitioner does not guarunttee being a good teacher. Trust someone with experience of having sat through bad training sessions done by people with unimpeachable professional credentials.

What qualification does Olivier have, besides being a good player, that makes him the best option?
