Looks like there's going to be a big contingent making the trip. Should be a cracking trip win or lose. See you there!

Great news that Captain Chris Morgan is fit to face London Irish and centre Alex Dancer starts after a number of months out injured. Only Hooker Jack Innard is available ftom our D/R players as Exeter Chiefs play Leicester in the Anglo Welsh cup final on Sunday.

It could mean that he's starting in the premiership game next week.

After going behind early on in the game it would have been easy to roll over and accept a heavy loss but full credit to the boys for a really spirited 2nd half performance. A slight criticism is that we had a lot of territory and possession but failed to get over the line. Clearly plenty to work on for the coaches and onwards to another tough game at home next week to top 4 challengers Doncaster.

The gulf between the sides both on and off the field is huge and something to which we have to aspire and they are a club at the wrong end of the Premiership.

notwithstanding we gave a good account of ourselves clearly Irish were playing well within themselves and could have put a lot more points over us had they chosen to do so.

We have performed very creditably this season given the challenges the team have faced, but our season has run its course imo and 6th place is about where we are at and a position most of us would have taken at the beginning of the season.

Hopefully the foundations are in place for even better things next season

Skills,
You are possibly correct about our final position which would be very satisfying, having viewed our chances last September. Great applause for the coaches, players and all the backroom staf. BUT........

Pirates. Doncaster. Jersey
Pts now 45. 50. 48

Doncaster 4. Yorkshire 1. Irish 0
Richmond. 4. Pirates. 1. Doncaster 1
Bedford. 5. Jersey. 4. Richmond 5
Irish 0

Total 58. 56. 54

It's still possible to make the play offs

We must beat Doncaster next weekend, a crucial match

LET'S GET DOWN THERE AND SHOUT OUR HEADS OFF.

I've always been an optimist!!!

Sorry my editing/computer skills are below average.
If you space the Pirates,Donny, Jersey columns out it gives a better picture. The Irish fixture in the Pirates column should be in the Doncaster column. It's the computers fault!!!!

Having just seen the result of the Donny v YC I am aware that my optimism is not justified. Buxxer.

Just back home after a blistering birthday weekend in London which included chance to enjoy the fantastic facilities in the hospitality suite at the Madjeski. What a magnificent stadium, everything finished to a very high spec and a glimpse of how we might enjoy our rugby in future. We were also looked after by some very nice people.
Not sure what to make of the game itself, apart from the fact that I was at the wrong end of the ground for most of it. I did get a view of our two tries but could not really tell you what happened for the first.
At 0-34 after 25 minutes it looked like it might get embarrassing with Irish playing beautiful football, but fair play to the boys they stuck to it.
Second half was distinctly odd. They cannot have had more than about 15% possession and even less territory. I think I am right in thinking that they only got into our half once and when they did they scored quite easily. As SB said, a mark of the difference in the depth and quality of the two squads. But given we went there with one specialist second row (Morgs is really a makeshift) and one hooker - an illustration of our challenges - it was a remarkable effort.
I think we will come up short for the Play offs, but a win next week and who knows. Irish getting wary of Ealing, they are certainly gearing up

any reason you missed out Ealing from your round-up? They only have 2 games left after having LW enforced rest this w/e - they should beat LS at home, but a slip-up there and they might need something at Headingley on the last day

You are correct Tomthepom, they could slip up but I reckoned on at least 4 points from LS and 1 from YC would give them min. of 59 points. We would need 3 5pointers from our last three games, a big ask so I went for the teams we could realistically climb above. A big game for us at the weekend that will define our season. Pirates are way ahead of our beginning of season expectations, they, the coaches, players, the back room staff, and those who hold the purse strings have all been magnificent.
Best of luck to you at this interesting time. Hope to make a trip over next season.

Ealing are as nailed on as Irish. Look at their results in the last 6 weeks. They are building towards top flight - maybe even this season
