Thanks CI13

Am I right in saying only 4 of last seasons squad have been re-signed so far?

Snook, Parker, Walker and Boots.

Just keeping the thread at the top of the message board up to date and accurate.

Yes,just those 4,so far,from last years squad.

2 are probably/hopefully now resting after helping Wales qualify for the World Cup

and Nye Walker has been representing his country, with others,in the Under Age squad for Wales.

It is shaping up to be a squad of young fellas who could be together for some years - once they bond together.

The future may be bright....

3 re-signings announced to take the squad to 19.

Morgan Jefferies, who was injured out in Australia, but who attended games to support his teammates, rejoins for 2019.

As does Dalton Desmond-Walker.

As does Rowland Kaye.

Competition for places, certainly.Just need the spine of the side strengthened.

Coming together very nicely.

Dan Maiden, who was with us last year - but didn't appear through injury

Ryan Shallish,an amazing convert from the other code.

Amazing because he represented his country,in Australia, playing for the deaf side.

Bringing the squad up to 22 is second row/centre

Ronny/Ronnie Palumbo,25 yrs

but described by head coach Kim Williams as being able to play in a number of positions.

He must be good as Kim Williams considers him a marquee signing.

As well as playing for clubs in Australia,he has played for Toulouse alongside Kane Bentley.

23rd member of the squad announced tonight.

Liam Clark,a full back/winger,has spent 4 years with Wynnum Manly Seagulls after being with Brisbane Broncos development system.

Really pleased with the competition for places - and the ages of our players, even though I can't find the age for Liam.

Iím delighted to see the squad taking shape and would humbly suggest it seems to be the most complete pre-season recruitment since the old Crusader days.

Itís interesting that no one - as far as I know - has raised the point that they ďare not Welsh enoughĒ, which was seemingly the mantra since the Scorps/Gnoll days. Were those perhaps born out of financial expediency?

You raise a good point.I just look at Premier League football clubs signing players from overseas who raised the 'professionalism' be it Zola, from Italy at Chelsea,Berghamp and the manager Wenger and French players, and Cantona at Manchester United - all praised for being first to training, last to leave,or just rehydrating correctly, and eating right.

However, more important may be the views of Chairman - Andrew Thorne

I may have been a bit ambiguous in that I applaud the steps and wasn't pushing for a team of "locals". If they put a Martian in a WWR shirt he would be one of the team - always assuming they can make a shirt with three sleeves!!!

The chairman has made some good points and I see he is clear there is still a pathway there for locals but that, in his view, the locals are not good enough and I am not sure may of us would argue, with perhaps the odd talented exception, after the torrid ride the team has had the last few years.
