League Table & Other results in our league
Date: 06 October, 2017 10:37

BoE remain unbeaten at the top of the table. Saracens appear to have a 6 point deduction as they have the same results as London Welsh and will remain a tough test.

Therefore some big must win games coming up for London Welsh in the league:

21st Of October Away v Saracens Ams
28th of October Home v Wasps FC
4th of November Away v BoE

TIS will definitely be at the next 2 games & of course BoE, is very easy to find (nearest station is Mortlake, you need to catch the Hounslow loop (clockwise). A few of us did that trip when the old club played v Doncaster Knights 2 seasons ago at Rosslyn Park.

It's actuually slightly closer to Barnes station, which is one stop closer to Waterloo from Mortlake, and also slightly easier to get to from North of the Thames.

Walk across the common to the car park entrance to Rosslyn Park's ground then keep walking up Priory lane towards Richmond Park. Once you've passed the Priory hospital, Bank Lane is on your right and the (superb) Sports ground is at the end of that.

Great to see London Welsh top of the league, with results favouring us this weekend.

Staines look to be improving and we have to navigate a tough away fixture another big home game against Royston on the 9th of December.

The coaching team and the playing squad look to be focused.

Results 9th of December 2017

Barnet 50 - 10 Actonians (Barnet seem to have found a mid season lease of life)
Hendon 8 - 0 Watford
Saracens Ams 54 - 14 London French
Staines 27 - 14 UCS Old Boys
Wasps Fc 25 - 28 BoE (Wasps very close to doing us a huge favour)

LW four points clear of BoE currently

Another big game against improving Staines next Saturday. BoE and Royston look to have winnable fixtures.

Bank scored their fourth try in the last moment of the game to get the win and the bonus point.

Another home win needed r London Welsh this Saturday to keep on the pressure. 9 games left to define this season.

Our next away game against Barnet now looks to be a tough one, as they seem to have improved/recruited, they had another big home win 24-6 against Staines last weekend, having also beaten BoE 41 - 15 at home previously.

Royston play BoE this weekend which will be an interesting result for us.

Now 9 points clear of Royston thanks to our bp win and their wonderful BP win but BOE have still got a game in hand due to their postponement last week.

By my reckoning it's an 11 point gap to Royston. I think a Bank win might have been preferable today, as it would have opened up a bigger gap to third place, and with two going up that would have put us in a more comfortable position. But that's now 50 points from a possible 50 since we lost at UCS in September.

Yes, 11 ahead of Royston and, assuming Bank will get a bonus point win over Actonians, effectively 9 ahead of Bank.

Purely in terms of getting in the two promotion places then Bank winning would have been preferable. It does increase the pressure on Bank and Royston as neither can afford to slip up. Barnet in a fortnight will be another challenge for us and after that it will be difficult not to think ahead to Bank's visit on 3 March.

Agreed, but 9 points is what the table says: [gms.rfu.com]

That table says:
London Welsh 64
Royston 53

11 points.

A hard fought result yesterday and good to have an appreciable gap betwen us and the chasing pack

We can't count our chickens yet with games away to Barnet and Royston and the return home fixture with Bank to come but can anyone clarify what happens at end of season if we either come top or second?

I've looked through the England RFU site which lists all leagues, results and tables but cant easily find any information on where we progress too next - is it London 3 South West? Is promotion automatic if we come second or do we then go into a play off?

Any clarification greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Eddie

Top two are automatically promoted to London 3 NW.

Eddie,

My understanding, if we finished 1st or 2nd, itís London 3 North West for us and not London 3 SW.

But Iím Sure someone will be along to put me right (nld* or Mark W-J)?

Basingstoke! Blimey, I remember a really depressing defeat there, Christmas 1991.
