Did anyone else read the display board in the East Stand? It was at the bottom of the indoor stairwell to the tap and tackle. I quickly read it and it had various proposals including 1500 seats and a roof on the North Stand! It looks like we might be getting a new car park as well. There were artist impressions of the new North Stand and it looked great. 1500 seats up top with an area to stand below it. I thought it was quite significant and i'm suprised nobody has mentioned it on here. Or was i just seeing things?

I saw the boards but didn't get the chance to read it
Sounds good to me though
Smithy, can you add to this for people who missed it?

Didn't see it myself but heard from others around me whilst sat in the West Stand. As a North Standee I don't mind as long as they leave some cheap terracing, I don't sit/stand in the other stands because I can't afford it and I know a lot of the long term fans around me wouldn't be happy with prices going up either.

The price of a pint seems to have gone up this season about 60-70p which also an absolute @#$%& joke 4.30 ish for a pint...not to mention still having to pay for a bloody plastic cup.

Thats worse than Newcastle city centre prices, the falcons take your eyes out on beer prices. Me and my mate stopped drinking at the ground for this reason, i used to buy the big big pitchers but even they got stupid money 16-17 quid for what 3 pints.

For those of us with little Falcons, the disabled toilet downstairs in the Tap and Tackle now has baby changing facilities. Key available behind the bar
Good addition and much appreciated

As a die hard north stander I thought the roof was supposed to be on years ago but the, funding wasn't there. And additional seats on the easy stand.

Not new plans if my memory serves well.

And you pay for the beer as your a captive audience. I'm sure most grounds are the same.

I had a great day yesterday

Apparently Proposed North Stand will have...

- New changing facilities for players and officials.
-1500 seats plus standing area. All roofed.
- New car park on existing North training pitch, 791 spaces. Existing overflow car park will become new all weather training pitch with change facilities and accomodation.
- Drainage to pitch west of stadium.
- New fanzone plaza at east stand.
- Creation of taxi and coach drop off areas.

Huge financial investment there. Life at the Falcons just gets better and better!

As I understand and have been told this is what Philadelphia has paid for

I'm glad that there is at least one decent result from the Philly nonsense.

Ha, glad I'm not the only one who resents paying for the glass the beer is served in!!

The stadium improvements sound great, the 1 for a plastic pint glass is refundable so I don't see what the problem is, like I said before would rather pay a 1 refundable deposit than thousands of plastic pint glasses being thrown away each home game

I'm not sure why the club are not making a bigger deal of this proposal. Strange. Next to the notice board where all of this information was being displayed they had mini questionaires asking for our opinions about the plans. I assume they are going to make a bigger deal of this when the season starts for real.

I guess plans are one thing but council planning permission , contact costs and everything else willsy it's part. I'm guessing fir obvious reasons the stand workwont take place till at least next summer and similar for the car park.
We already have pretty good facilities so anything extra will be a real win for the club.i don't get the plastic cup argument though, as drinking out of a rigid plastic cup is far more civilised than the flimsy disposable ones we used to have. As pointed out , you get your 1 back at the end or get a souvenir for use at bbq!;-) I'm guessing you could probably use it all season if you so wished. I have never been one to hug trees as god knows the carbon footprint of my c-17 globemaster, but not throwing away 10,000?,15,000? Pint glasses a week must be a bonus.

Refundable plastic pots are appearing everywhere, and they do make sense if you look at the bigger picture. Good to see the juniors having fun like an army of wombles after the games, picking up the abandoned pots for pocket money. I gave two away to kids with an enterprising spirit on Saturday, they were well chuffed.

The handled beer glasses are a great addition to the club.

You can collect them or redeem them but it means less is dug into the ground which is surely a good thing.

It also is easier to hold and carry.

The ground would look a mile better with a north stand to be proud of.

I'd let them go to Philly at the start of every season if it paid for things like that.

Next stop a fantastic east stand to match.

Could we fill it though? Crowds are on the up but when was the last sell out?

Have the plans included any proper cycle racks? Hoping to get up sometime this back end and the bike is my preferred method of transport to such events!
