Watched the NPC game, this morning, between North Harbour and Tasman.
What a massive difference in approach to the match.
AP full of attrition and 18 stone Exocets trying to maim each other at the rucks.
NPC full of skills, pace, no @#$%& at ruck time and well refereed. Compare that to what was on offer on Sunday.
To me it shows just how poor English rugby has become.

Yet Australia and South Africa are currently comparitively poor on the international stage and only New Zealand continue to dominate

A lot of Premiership rugby has been excellent over the last couple of seasons. Better than it’s ever been. A lot of Super Rugby has been utterly unwatchable over the last couple of seasons. Worse than it’s ever been. Not exactly sure the premise of this thread stands up to close scrutiny tbh.

There's New Zealand, and there's the rest. Right now I'd reckon on the English game being pretty much the top of the rest.

Show a picture of Wasps vs. Anyone from last year, and you have try scoring par excellence that could match anything from down there. Show them Wasps Vs Bath 2017-18, and once you have opened their eyes and scraped them off the sofa they will have probably forgotten it. One match proves little either way.
It is true that the rule changes this year have not helped create more gaps, as was probably intended, and as the winter sets in the games will become duller.

Don't think new laws were about creating more space simply about simplifying the ruck. Teams, especially in the Prem need to explore option and be creative. - currently applying same as to this season albeit stepped upped defence in most cases.

Stand corrected. I honestly thought they were about ball in play and gaps. The new laws don't seem to have improved much. The 2009? ELVs ruined a lot, these seem a bit less drastic.
