Blues v Titans

On paper the Blues season should keep on improving following the departure of bottom club Rotherham Titans at Goldington Road kick off Saturday at 3.00 . Watch out for the banana skin...

We have been scoring points for fun so far but we've also been conceding them. Great entertainment and a respectable sixth place and 15 points in the bag after five games.

Titans arrive with only one solitary bonus but will be desperate to get their season going.

We make three changes - George Edgson and Ben Cooper  in the front row and Jordan Onojaife  at lock.

Blues: 15. Chris Czekaj 14. Elliot Clements-Hill 13. Rich Lane 12. Michael Le Bourgeois (capt) 11. Dean Adamson 10. Harry Sheppard 9. Jordan Burns 1. Sean McCarthy 2. George Edgson 3. Ben Cooper 4. Jordan Onojaife 5. Will Carrick-Smith 6. Alex Rae 7. Ben Adams 8. Jarad Williams

Reps: Tom Lindsay, Camilo Parilli-Ocampo, Dave Spelman, Paul Tupai, Jack Nay, Lee Dickson, Ryan Hutler

One of my favourite games of the season, usually keenly contested. Who can forget the play off games against Roth a great spectacle for supporters I do hope they recover and start winning some games , after today of course.

Not bad 5 points and no signs of injuries pace was the key we had it and Roth didn't, job done.

Quiet here, isn't it? Good regulation win with some scintillating tries, I thought, spoiled a bit by the rain in the second half. Edgson and Williams impressed me as did pretty much the whole back line. Great game from Sheppard who would have edged it for my man of the match, I think. Not really convinced by Jordan Onojaife yet, considering his pedigree. Am I missing something? For those who missed it, whole match here:Blues v Titans

A functional performance.........yes some excellent tries, the predicted Rotherham pressure for the first twenty minutes, fair share of forward passes by the Titans which the ref eventually penalised......

Our pack looked good as did our lineout.......I liked the intentional over throw in the first half.......however too many silly infringements including that stupid ‘extra ten’ for back chatting the ref in the second half, which led I think to the second Rotherham try

Thoughts are a good team performance, missing certain key players, we perhaps should have scored more against a team in trouble, too early to talk of relegation but with nearly a third of the games played Rotherham look favourites for the drop......

JW did you note the presence of MR Rayer on the touch line......

As for being quite on here......yes......just where are those ‘keyboard ninjas’ who last year rushed criticise those of us who questioned the teams performance............

First time I've watched them this season, on Facebook of all platforms.
Everyone played well. Of those I haven't seen play before I thought Sheppard and Williams were very impressive. Edgson, Burns, Booj and Adamson were top class.
Good performance all round.

I thought Booj had a good game both in attack and defence and would be my man of the match. Some very good individual moments, but a little disjointed at times. With it still being early days and some players still to return top 4 looks a must this season. Must have the quickest backline in the league this year!

‘..........top 4 looks a must this season.......’

Certainty its a possibility......Bedford is the highest placed team that have faced both of the ‘top two’ Bristol and Ealing.

Doncaster and Nottingham who are currently placed above us have yet to face either of them and Yorkshire who are just below us in the table has yet to have that privilege as well ..........,,.

Still early days but perhaps.......

We also haven't played those 3 yet either, which will tell us whether top 4 is a possibility.

I think our pack is still looking a lightweight compared to others and certainly lacking any depth in the back row. If Williams were to get injured we'd be losing our only big ball carrying player. I'd stick him in the stands for the next 2 games. There must be a lower league player with potential we could bring in to test out in the BIC.

Scrums we are fine but we still can't defend a maul. We also don't win many turnovers.

Compo, yep before and after the game during some interviews, long may it continue lol.

Back to the game, we won, scored max points, what more could we ask for. Sheppard/Booj/Lane/Burns/Williams had superb games.

With the new laws at the breakdown I'm not sure many teams are. Not that it's a deliberate tactic on our part, unless we've been practising for the new laws for the past three seasons.

Harry Sheppard really punches above his weight. Not afraid to tackle the big boys!

Yes he does, great addition to the squad. I did like Sharp, but we've replaced him wisely IMO. We have a team that can certainly excite and are scoring some superb try's. Hopefully we'll have a good run in the cup and continue with our current good form in the league.
