Off to Cornwall

Winning at the existing stadium is no easy task these days. Games at the Mennaye Fields and Goldington Road are never dull affairs.

Cornish Pirates are just one place and six points ahead of us in the Championship, and this will be the first of three meetings between the sides in cup and league before Christmas.

They had the Indian sign on us last season winning 34-29 at Goldington Road and 24-17 in Cornwall - although we did finish one place above them.

It could not be more interesting, and we make a few changes.

Ryan Hutler and James Lennon start in the backs and  Jacob Fields, Alex Penny, Will Carrick-Smith and Huw Worthington up front. Mark Flanagan will lead the side.

Blues: 15. Rich Lane 14. Ryan Hutler 13. Jamie Elliott 12. Lewis Robling 11. Dean Adamson 10. Will Hooley 9. James Lennon  1. Sean McCarthy 2. Jacob Fields
3. Alex Penny 4. Will Carrick-Smith 5. Mark Flanagan (capt) 6. Oli Curry 7. Josh Buggea  8. Huw Worthington.

Replacements: 16. Gerard Ellis 17. Hayden King  18. Ben Cooper 19. Jarad Williams 20. Jack Nay 21. Alex Gliksten 22. Fraser Strachan

Right back down to the bare bones again, especially at half back, with Atkins gone back to LI and Hooley off to the USA after this.
Be a tough battle down there and a good game, and I hope we can bring home the bacon but would be surprised!

Makes the 2 losses to Coventry and Scottish hurt, otherwise we would be up with Ealing & Irish.

Need to finish off this block of fixtures with a 5 point win v Hartpury and keep the top 4 target going.

Great result today, not sure many people would have predicted that with another depleted squad. Is anyone aware of the current injuries as most of the players on the bench I haven't even heard of.

Great to see Rich Lane skin those backs. Some emerging talent from the lower ranks is also really good to see. That Roblin penalty was awesome. He is settling in well, as is Curry.

I agree, I thought Robling would be the pick of the summer signings. He and Elliott just need to work on defending that 12/13 channel, if we can tighten up that we will soon start winning more comfortably.
