Artist's Impression of the Sportsground Redevelopments

In a big week for supporters and after much speculation Connacht Rugby are delighted to release artists impressions of how the home of Connacht rugby will look for the 2011/12 season.

Work started on the Clan Terrace two weeks ago and is set to be completed for Connacht’s first home RaboDirect PRO12 game in early September. The covering will provide much needed shelter to the Connacht faithful and enhance the matchday experience for all supporters.

There is also ancillary work being undertaken behind the stand which will see the construction of a new marquee bar, food outlets and restroom facilities, images of which will be release in the near future.
The second part of the development will be the erection of a covered, seated West Stand, adjacent to the existing main stand. This stand will cater for over 300 supporters in a structure that will be similar to that which was in place for Connacht’s Amlin Challenge Cup semi final against Toulon in 2010. The new West Stand, along with the developments on the new Clan side are anticipated to greatly improve overall facilities within the Sportsground and help make the home of Connacht Rugby a fun, safe and enjoyable venue for years to come.

Looks like it'll be a nice little ground once the work is done

Minor detail compared to having somewhere dry to sit/stand and watch the rugby, and somewhere to get a beer without walking to far side of ground and something other than a graveyard wall to relieve yourself (yes the Sportsground borders a graveyard, perhaps we should make more of that.. (Sm73) ).

The new facilities should be a big boost to supporters attendence..
