Up and Under: Luke Myring's Coventry RFC column.

I DON’T really want to talk about the game at the weekend but I suppose I have to mention it. I was highly positive about our chances on Saturday against Macclesfield away but any thoughts I had of us winning started to slip away inside 29 seconds.

Again for the umpteenth time this year we leaked points early and gave ourselves a hill to climb. Unfortunately in this game the hill was insurmountable – it was more of a slippery slope and we slipped away to a 40-10 loss.

We have been on a slippery slope for a little while now and at this time as a squad we have just got to keep our heads down and keep working and sticking together.

I have said all season that within the squad there is great spirit and fight and we demonstrated this week after week earlier on in the season.

This is now the time where we need to show some of that Cov Dog and as we are now looking over our shoulders at the bottom of the table we have to start coming of age and stand up as individuals within the team and be counted.

I am stuck on the sidelines injured at the minute and as a professional sportsman there is not a worse place to be. It’s a horrible feeling watching the boys digging in every training session and then it just not quite working on a Saturday.
