Blue and White stalwart Herrington had his campaign disrupted by injuries and was limited to just 13 starts having been one of the cornerstones of the pack the previous season.
Maynard will hope the powerful second row can rediscover the form and fitness that brought him 15 tries in 2010-11 and made him one of the most potent ball carriers in National One.
Barker, though, will be looking to continue his excellent first season at Coventry having missed just one match – and then only because of work commitments.
The 25-year-old made the No. 9 shirt his own with a string of ebullient displays which identified him as one of Maynard’s best players.
But if anyone was surprised, Barker wasn’t among their number.
“I am really happy to re-sign because I have enjoyed the season, not the way it finished in terms of league position but in the progress we made for the future and I wanted to be part of that,” the qualified teacher said.
“I have always had confidence in my ability because I know what I can produce on a rugby field.
