Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce the signing of Portuguese International No 8 forward Jacques le Roux. Aged 27 Jacques born in Capetown, South Africa played for Pretoria Police Academy and then had the chance to move to Portugal some 6 years ago. Playing at the highest club level in Portugal, two years ago he qualified to play for the Portuguese National side and last season played 6 international games for Portugal scoring 3 tries.
Standing 1.91m and weighing 16 stone Jacques prefer the No 8 position although equally at home at No 7. Playing at the highest level he could in Portugal he now feels it is time to play and aim at a more consistently higher standard. Jacques already knows about the Coventry club as he knew former Coventry coach Murray Henderson and last season played in the Portuguese league against Will Hafu who had a short spell at Coventry late last season.
A hard running back row Jacques enjoys the offloading fast game backing up the other players around the field. His own personal aim is to get into the Championship and with his power and speed he feels he could assist Coventry Rugby in this joint aim.
The signing of Jacques makes the 13th new signing for Coventry Rugby club, making a squad so far announced of 27. More signings are expected to be known over the next two weeks as the Coventry squad for the forthcoming season is completed.
