Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce their first new signings for the coming season, with the news that hooker Chris Locke and winger Mark Kohler has both signed from Championship side Bedford Blues.

Chris Locke, hooker aged 23, is a former England U 20’s player who has been with Bedford for three seasons. Injury last season curtailed his appearances and felt that a change of club would be required to get regular game time.

Mark Kohler, winger also aged 23, is a former Canadian U 20’s player, and made 3 appearances last season in the Championship and scored 8 tries in the British and Irish Cup, as well as appearing for Saracens A. Another player in need of more regular game time Mark feels that Coventry Rugby will be the platform to do this. A versatile back Mark prefers his usual wing position.

Meanwhile two of Coventry Rugby’s last season players Heath Stevens and Bronson Ross have moved onto other clubs.

Heath Stevens, centre aged 21 who has been with Coventry for 3 seasons has moved to Championship side Plymouth Albion under their new Director of Rugby James Shanahan. Heath played 24 games last season mainly in the centre and scored 8 tries.

Bronson Ross, prop forward came to Coventry Rugby at the start of last season from Spanish side Guernica, although born in South Africa and Ireland qualified has been signed by the Irish province Ulster. Taking time to settle to the English game Bronson soon became a force around the field and all credit to the Coventry coaching staff for bringing him on, and indeed for the Ulster selectors who spotted his potential.

Coventry Rugby would like to thank these players for their performances since they have been at Coventry and wish them every success in the future.

Further news about Coventry Rugby’s  retained and re-signed squad members  will be announced  shortly.
