England Rugby Summer Tour 2010 - Australia

England agree test and midweek 2010 summer tour schedule, also featuring the New Zealand Maori. The match which will form part of the New Zealand Maori centenary celebrations.
In June 2010 the Senior England Elite Player Squad and members of the England Saxons squad will tour Australia and New Zealand, their first five match summer tour since their visit to South Africa 10 years ago. England will play two tests, against Australia in Perth on June 12 and Sydney on June 19, and three midweek games.
A squad of 44 players will travel and take part in the tests and midweek matches.
There are two games against the Australian Barbarians on June 8 in Perth at the Members Equity Bank Stadium and on June 15 at the Central Coast Stadium in Gosford.
England play the New Zealand Maori on June 23 at McLean Park in Napier, a match which will form part of the New Zealand Maori centenary celebrations.
England Team Manager Martin Johnson said: "The tour presents all the players and coaches with a great opportunity to test themselves against some excellent teams. All five matches will be very tough and give us the opportunity to look at some players who may not have had the opportunity to play on this tour if it had been restricted to two test matches. The games will be great occasions and to play the New Zealand Maori in their centenary year is a huge honour."
RFU Elite Rugby Director Rob Andrew MBE said: "I'd like to thank the Australia and New Zealand Unions for helping us to set up this tour and Premier Rugby and the RPA (Rugby Players Association) for their on-going support for the England representative teams as part of the eight-year agreement. "
"It will give England squad members an excellent opportunity of experiencing a full tour before they potentially get selected for a Rugby World Cup."
"The squad will include players that would otherwise have travelled to Denver for the Churchill Cup with the England Saxons in May and June and it also gives a number of players the opportunity to step up into the Saxons squad via the Elite Player Pathway and they will benefit from the experience."

I wonder what the odds are of him taking the same 32 man squad and then picking the likes of Erinle, Noon, Balshaw, Palmer, and Magnus Lund.
Instead of the younger generation and the form players in the premiership.
With regards to the article, great news. Good for Johnson to arrange a proper tour like this. It'll be a great experience for the players leading into the world cup next year.
I'm not too sure about having the games scheduled a mere 4 days between each other though. I suppose with English clubs getting humiliated in the Heineken cup the players are unlikely to be playing as many games as usual this season.
But please everyone, carry on with the boring predictable whinging. With supporters like these it's no wonder Borthwick sticks two fingers up to them and the press at every post match interview.

I am delighted to see two games in Perth, not had a chance to watch England for some time now, and I won't have to pay Twickenham prices to do it this time (Went to Wallabies SA last year, most expensive tickets were $114, 70 quid at current rates , I paid $90, 55 quid at current rates). The downside is Subiaco Oval is a@#$%&place to watch Rugby, though the game against Aus Barbarians at ME Bank Stadium, a rarte rectangular stadium, should be intersting you can get a standing ticket for Western Force games for $30, 18 quid.
Not at all confident of a good result, but will be there shouting myself hoarse. And yes Kath, if I can get hold of a cheap camera, I'm not to be trusted with expensive gadgets on a matchday, then I will get pics, though with subi being an oval, even with a decent zoom, you won't be able to make out any of the players, crowd shots should be interesting though.
