Chiefs crowned Premiership Champions 2016/17 season

Exeter Chiefs celebrate winning the Aviva Premiership Final at Twickenham Stadium, London.

It seemed barely conceivable when I started The Tribe site in 2006 that Chiefs would not only get promoted to the Premiership but then go on to win it after just 7 years in the division.  Indeed if we go back to season 2006/07 our end of season fixtures were against Moseley, Leeds (eventual Champions), Doncaster, Newbury, Otley, Sedgley Park and Waterloo.  In fact we had started what was our first season at Sandy Park with a draw against Coventry.  My how times have changed with just two from that club list still involved in the Chamionship.  Chiefs ended that season in fourth spot with an average home attendance of 3551.  I think this season's average attendance is in excess if 11,500 and I'm told that we could have easily sold several thousand more for our sell-out games and the semifinal would have sold three times over.

The details of the Final have been covered in great vdetail and I'll not attempt to sum it up as I'm sure I'd fail to do it justice.  Suffice it to say I'm one very happy and proud Exeter Chiefs supporter.

Oh, and I can't wait for next season to come!

Thanks Moorsman for starting the Tribe site and keeping it going. We have had a few ups and downs(flying falcon) I think or something similar! Whilst the club has grown to something I think nobody at the time except Tony or Rob perhaps the site has kept most of us entertained.

A few players I would like to give a quick shout out to,

Carl Rimmer would have felt he was behind Hepburn, Moon and talk of Low and Holmes playing loose head. There most have been a time when he could have left so to play in a winning final like that most have been great.

Ben Moon, the scrum won us the last two games, he has had some penalties against him in the season but the last two games brilliant.

Sam Simmonds, played in two finals this year, he most feel like he has died and gone to Devon. How do we get him in the time? Waldrom does not look he is ready to give up the 8 shirt to Armand yet.

Ollie Devoto and Dave Dennis will look at their winners medal and think they made the right choice in coming to exe. Both looked ready good the last part of the season and look to have a big part to play next season. also Parling after a slow start must feel he made the right choice, I think he can go down as a good signing by Baxter after the way he's played this season.

Yes and what about Townsend sitting on bench at pirates early in the season and since played a leading part in those final games including the final itself. A great prospect for the future and I mean England

Four U28 scrum halfs into one starting place should be fun next season, I did mean to post on Townsend as well, and Jack Yeandle line out throwing in the red zone, everything seem to go for us in the last two games when it mattered, happy days worked hard for
