Onward and Upward

Cherry and White supporters now know they are in for the best season in years. Gloucs may have been beaten 38-31 by Tigers to inflict the first defeat of the season but the way our team played in the last few minutes promises so much.

After going into a 14-0 lead in the first half Tigers came back to lead 38-21 as the clock ticked down. But Gloucs reacted magnifiently as we reached the 79th minute mark Jack Innard crashing over in the left corner to get the try bonus point.

Game over? Not a chance as George Barton rushed his conversion from out wide and nailed it.

Just time for a restart and Gloucs patiently worked their way upfield finally gaining a penalt kick in front of the posts. A succcessful kick would earn Gloucs another bonus point while Togers were assured of five points whatever happened. So can anyone explain why a goodly number of home supporters decided to boo and heckle Barton as he stepped up for the kick. That never used to be part of our game and wherever and whenever it happens it needs calling out - including by The Shed.

Barton wasn't going to miss and those bonus point did keep us one point clear of Tigers at the top but only ovbernight, presumably, as either Bristol or Bath will go top after the weekend games.
