Is smith injured?

Could be just to give Owen some game time now.

Presume that Smith is injured, otherwise he would be on the bench ?

I reckon its just rotation with Smith, chance to see another player. Personally I'd have gone with Catchpole or Charlie Thacker.

Like the look of the pack, hope Wells comes back in for Europe but don't mind him on the bench here.

First time Youngs has been on the bench for a Europe or Prem game since September last year (home loss to Wasps).

Rotation after last weeks brutal game.

Happy with that. Sensible rotation but we've not generally gone for speculative options. Pleased to see what Owen and Tuohy can give us. Pretty excited by that loose trio but they will look to carry so we have work hard to to get bodies to the break-down to protect Sam's game.

Plenty of strength from the bench if required.

Good to that Ellis' back has resolved itself quickly and good to see Cilliers back. Hope Mike W's HIA isn't a factor.

you could argue that only half of that team are 1st choice based on recent selections ?

Looks like sensible use of the squad, we need to win and those players will I'm sure do the business.

Given the number of changes still a good team on paper. Irish will be well up for it so hope we are too, a big chance for several players.

Decent team, all things considered. They'll still need to be on their mettle and front up. Bit disappointed that Tombstone doesn't feature - I could have sworn I'd read that he was now fit and available?

A decent team there, and whilst I do hope we have not underestimated Les Not-nots and some unfamiliarity does not lead to spillages or confusion, the bench is strong enough to pick up the pieces if needed

This pantomime; just put it .. behind you!

Late changes pre-kickoff:

TV and Lenny out through illness. Tait starts at FB, Matt Smith and Ben White come onto the bench.
