News: SUPER SAINTS STUN SUPINE SARRIES
By Bonso

It was refreshing watching yesterday’s match to have no controversy and just watch a game of hard fast and fair rugby. Gosh it was fast with our new hero crossing the whitewash after 4 minutes. Welcome to the gardens Vassily and I hope you get very bored of this try scoring thing in the Gold Black and Green.
LV= Cup Round 1 - Northampton Saints vs Saracens
Franklin's Gardens
Saturday 15th October KO 15:00
Personally I love late autumn games at the gardens even if I do spend most of the time squinting against the late day sun and yesterday was certainly perfect for quick precise rugby. To be brutally frank Saracens did not play that badly I think Saints yesterday were too much for our friends from the south both in thought and deed. Sarries replied to Saints with a penalty but it was a false glimmer for the Fez faithful as Saints attacked again forcing a yellow for Ratuvou for a deliberate knock on. The penalty was missed but not the opportunity as May Elliot and Armstrong sent guess who down the wing for number 2. Easy job this Vasily isn’t it? The extras were added by Mr Lamb and Saints were sitting pretty. Saracens pressed forward and gained another 3 points but that was it for the half.
14-6 at the break and so it goes.
There was an interesting duel going on between Hayward and George and of the battle of the hookers sorry Fez folks - Hayward by a clear KO. In fact Hayward’s only error I can recall was him butchering Armstrong’s most excellent work early in the second half. However Lamb added another 3 with a drop goal and Saints were starting to purr.
Any good victory is usually built with good performances from the back row which in modern terms I take to mean the back 5 and dare I say it we looked to have a good balance with Craig Zorro Nutters Sarge and Woody. It was Nutley who gave the spark for Vasily’s 3rd try. Jug for Mr Artemyev.
Time to ease the cavalry in so in comes Lawes , Tiny, Dyl , and Dicko. The bonus point came soon after as the increasingly impressive Armstrong sent Elliot in for the bonus point. Lamb was replaced with Myler, who proceeded to create the 5th try with a beautifully executed cross field kick collected and dotted down by Elliot.
So bonus point win over Sarries, If Carlsberg did rugby games ………..

I hope Silly never gets bored with scoring tries for the Green, Black & Gold...
Great report - must have been an absolute pleasure to write it. And we are enjoying some good journalism here this term. Anyone else care to try?
