Northampton Saints can today announce that Tom Kessell will leave the Club

In the three seasons the scrum-half has spent in Northampton, Kessell racked up 22 appearances in Black, Green and Gold after making his Saints debut against Glasgow Warriors back in 2016.
The Cornish Pirates product, who first joined the West Country side as a youngster in 1995, excelled in the Championship and earned representative honours in 2010 when he toured Canada with England Counties before his performances in the 2014/15 season leading to The Rugby Paper naming him the best scrum-half in the Championship.
The scrum-half also helped the Wanderers list the Premiership Rugby A League trophy on two occasions; beating both Gloucester United and Exeter Braves in consecutive years.
“It’s been an absolute privilege to pull on the famous Black, Green and Gold jersey in my three seasons at Saints, but the time has come for me to move on. “Being able to play with this group of guys and make the memories I have has been incredible. I will always look back on my time here fondly and I wish everyone at Saints all the best of the future.”

Another press piece with some info in. Definelty thought he was a good player but just not got the top 10% for first team rugby week in week out.
Thank you Tom and good luck in the future.
I doi find the timing a bit odd. most if not all of the other leavers were either before or soon after the end of the season. would this mean that they kept Tom hanging on pending the signing of the lad from the Dragons? I always thought he looked ok without being a standout at this level, a solid replacement. good luck to him, sounds like he had a good loan spell at Cov last season so should go well in the Championship
