NEW SEASON, NEW LOCKDOWN, NEW TIERS

Scarcely has one season ended before another begins. With Bristol in Tier 3 or 4 or 5 there will be no spectators even though there is no rational reason why limited numbers could not attend.

We have only just finished one bizarre season before embarking on another that promises to be nearly as strange although perhaps not so prolonged.

$aracen$ are in the Championship, a league that won't start until December (and maybe not then) and are replaced by Newcastle who were promoted by way of a formula when the Championship wasn't completed. Newcastle will not have played a competive game since 1842 (or so it seems). They'll either be under-cooked, or fresh. The rest of the Premiership will either be battle-hardened, or exhausted. Who can say in these strange times? But early indications are that Newcastle are fully ready for the challenge ahead.

 

But we'll probably end up with another lockdown under the guise of Tier X and cancelled games with arbitrary points awarded.
