Two more years for Darragh

Irish international wing Darrgh O'Mahony has signed a new two year deal with the Men in Black which will see him play on until the end of the 2003-04 season.

The 28 year old joined from Bedford Blues in 1999 and has been a regular in the number 11 shirt since and his main aim with Saracens is to win trophies.

"When I joined the club three years ago, I joined because I wanted to win things. My outlook hasn't changed and I'm delighted to have agreed a new deal with the club because I'm desperate to achieve success here." he said in the club's official press release.

Unlike some players who have moved on after a disappointing 2001-02 campaign, O'Mahony was keen to stay and put things right at the troubled club. He sees that the future under new Director of Rugby Wayne Shelford is a bright one.

"I made no secret towards the end of the season that I wanted to stay and as long as the club put an offer on the table I was never going anywhere else he said. "With the players we've got and are rumoured to be signing plus the control of Wayne Shelford it's going to a very exciting time at the club and I'm very optimistic about what we're going achieve and pleased that I'm going to be part of it."

Coach Shelford, during his brief stay at the club so far, is said to have been impressed with O'Mahony who has scored 37 tries since his arrival and sees him as an integral part of his plans for next year.

Saracens CEO Peter Deakin agrees.

"Darragh is a very valuable member of the squad and we hope that he will prove Wayne right over the coming seasons, we're delighted that he has extend his stay with us."
