Ben Whites debut this weekend didn’t quite go to plan, but it’s not the shortest Cardiff career kick off…

Ben White came on for his Cardiff Blues debut against Wasps yesterday, but it didn’t quite go to plan. White was yellow carded in the 74^th minute, having only arrived on the 71^st. That meant he didn’t return to play out anymore part in the fantastic Anglo-Welsh win over the Wasps.

 

But the nightmare start to his Blues career isn’t quite the worst Cardiff debut. Back in 2002, now Cardiff RFC second row Chris Statamakis came on at half time to make his first appearance in a Blues shirt against Glasgow Warriors. However, within 10 seconds he was given a straight red card for elbowing an opponent.

 

The kick off went up and in a clumsy challenge to reclaim the restart, Statamakis elbowed the defending lock in the face, and was deservedly given a straight red.

 

So there we are Ben, it could've been worse…
