Blues Player Arrested

One of the Cardiff Blues players was arrested last night, though details on the incident are currently sketchy. The Blues have made an official statement.

It's not yet known whether the player was deatained in Scotland or Cardiff, but that information is sure to come out in the next few days. The Blues squad would've been in the Scottish capital overnight, in the run-up to their game against Edinbourgh, however a lesser player of the squad would've stayed at home and therefore still could've been involved in the 'incidents'.

Cardiff Blues Ltd. said,

"Cardiff Blues can today confirm that a squad member was detained by the police and subsequently released but have no further comment to make while the police inquiry continues."

This is the second tme in this season alone that a Blues player has been arrested. On Thursday 15th September, 2005, James Goode and Mike Phillips were deatained following a brawl in Cardiff City Centre after a night out.

Phillips has a reputation amungst Cardiff bars and clubs, and is already banned from many for rowdy behavior. It's very possible that Phillips is again behind the incidents.

If as believed, the arrests took place last night, it begs real questions of the players commitment, and Dai's control allowing his squad out late the night before a match.

Away performances by the Blues have been dire in all of their 4 season's since regionalisation, if players are being allowed out the night before, this may be some insight into why the side can't function in away games.

The Blues side is yet to've been announced, but this recent arrest may well change the plans of Dai Young. If Phillips is the guilty man, Ryan Powell could well take the Camarthan-man's place.
