Scarlets Sign Welsh Qualified Duley

Llanelli Scarlets have signed David Duley from New Zealand provincial side Waikato. The New Zealander qualifies for Wales through his mother, who was born near Wrexham.

The 26 year-old is the Scarlets' second Kiwi signing in two weeks, following the addition of veteran All Black prop David Hewitt. However Duleys' Welsh heritage appears to have earmarked his signing, as director of rugby Gareth Jenkins attempts to re-build his faltering team.

Duley who spent this season as a regular in Waikato's NPC campaign, untill a thumb injury ruled him out. He had previously been with Queensland Reds in Australia, although he failed to make a Super 12 appearance.

Scarlets Chief Executive Stuart Gallacher said; “We are happy to welcome David to Stradey Park as he will bolster our pack as we work to turn around our season. He has great experience, having played in the Super 12 for Waikato and is immensely versatile. We are expecting him to arrive on December 16th.”
