Oscar Heath - Bees’ return a ‘couple of weeks away’

Full Back, Oscar Heath, hopes to return to the Bees’ line up for the 26th January when Preston Grasshoppers visit Portway.Heath, 19, has been unfortunate with injury in the last couple of years suffering a knee injury that kept him out of most the 2011/12 season with Rugby Lions. “Having to watch each week knowing that you can’t do anything to help the boys is exceptionally frustrating. I have really enjoyed my season so far for Bees and hope to impress further when I make my return.”Heath, who was signed as a scrum half, has made a big impact since joining the Birmingham side scoring 10 tries and only failing to cross the whitewash on three occasions. His try tally has included two braces which came at home to both Hull and Huddersfield. His electric pace has constantly excited the Portway faithful and the potential of a try being scored from nothing is much more likely when he is on the pitch.

“I have really enjoyed the switch to Full Back. I now have lots of time and space to run with the ball and to try and create opportunities for the team. My positional play has room for improvement but with the coaching from Eugene, I am sure I will make quick progress.”

The Bees play host to Sheffield Tigers this weekend for their first home game of 2013. The reverse fixture was one of the three matches Heath has not scored in. Commenting on the opposition ahead, Heath explained, “Sheffield were more disciplined than us when we last played them, we gave away far too many penalties which they capitalised on with a good kicking display. We also received two yellow cards which never helped us. As long as we stick to our game plan and are more disciplined, I don’t see any reason why we can’t get back to winning ways.”

The Portway-based side find themselves lingering just above the three relegation places, 4 points clear of Westoe, with a game in hand. “The rest of the season is going to be tough. The whole squad must dig in now and get the results we have been looking for. There are plenty of games remaining for us to turn this season around and finish on a high with a mid-table finish.”
