Could be a banana skin if we are not careful and need to be switched on from the start and a low penalty count.

Any away trip in this league is tough, but we have the quality to do this. If we can replicate anything like the form we showed last week (hopefully without the big penalty count) we will come out on top.

Seems the delay was due to an ambulance needed for someone at Ampthill.

Players wandering around the pitch waiting for the game to start.
I've no idea the reason for the delay but this is not a good advert for championship rugby.
Apparently the delay was due to the lack of an ambulance providing medical cover.

Ampthill 6 Pirates 26
4 tries to the Pirates in a first half that we had the majority of territory and possession.
Penalty count still too high with Josh Caulfield spending 10 minutes in the bin.
Our line out has misfired on occasion and if we had a little bit more composure in their 22 and we could have been further ahead.

Ampthill 13 Pirates 26
A bonus point win but our discipline was terrible and we finished the game with 13 men.
I would also question our decision making and game management as we were in control of the game but a number of unforced errors allowed them back into the match and we ended up frantically defending our own line at the final whistle.

Such a Banana skin as my previous post. Set out(11am) to get to the match and discover M1 closed South jct, 18 to 16 with a 45 minute delay. No problem come off at jct 19 set the old Sat Nav for the alternative route around and predicted time of arrival 1pm. Plenty of time but, heavy traffic and some other delay due to an incident time crept up for ETA now 2pm, Getting nowhere decided to head back home and watch match via TV channel. Further delays made it back just as planned 1.30pm KO and discover match delayed and eventually start at 2pm.
Settled in and note Pirates concede 5 penalty's within first 15 minutes. Did not count after this as you could feel more penalty's to come for the home team. Gav and Paves really need to sort this issue out as we just concede them constantly and give the opposition a Get Out Of Jail, all to often.
If there was a BP for 5 penalty's or more conceded by any team during a match we would be well ahead in the league. Come on Pirates sort this out plus another 3 x yellow two weeks running.
Thankfully we got the result and will be keeping an eye on Richmond against Ealing.

Ealing eventually beat Richmond 33 - 24, so they retain top spot, I assume?

5 points away from home. Job done. Plenty to work on, especially the high penalty count, but we keep winning so let's not be too critical.
Another tough away trip next week - Richmond gave Ealing a heck of a fright today.

Makes New Year's Day at Ealing a bit special if the boys can perform to their potential

90th birthday event next weekend so will not be able to attend Richmond. Blimey this has been a season of knocks trying to get to matches. Agree with Stalwart we came away with 5 points but according to TRP Pirates conceded 19 PENALTIES, this requires urgent addressing as the officials must be watching for any minor infringement we make.
Congrats to London Cornish for winning there first game of the season.
