I know what im going to place on here perhaps is going to be controversial, but it has been niggling away at me for some days now..It may also upset the apple cart, but i for one feel uneasy at 'Tom' being the facilitator or 'go between' from supporter to Directors..Perhaps also i should say this to his face first, but none the less im placing it on here, as many other discusions involving Tom have been on this forum.
I personally feel uneasy, as Tom very publicy on here and on so many other occasions openly defended Green and chastised other forum posters on here who didnt agree with what AG was doing, this went on for at least 3 years. Ive also noticed that there has not been any negative green comments from him on here.
Unfortunately i find it difficult to support you Tom, not despite the good you may be doing now, but the harm you have done in the past by definding AG in virtually everything he did, and by 'correcting' others who questioned greens morals and motives. You were, without question, a willing mouthpeice for green and his indiscretions.
I know i can sometimes take a very moralistic and simplistic view of things, and sometimes see things very much in black and white. But rightly or wrongly, for me, i cant support a person who jumps from one regime to another with such ease.
I am one for moving forward, and am being at the forefront of remaining positive, and offering assistance where needed, but that does not mean i have to agree with everything and everyone involved.
This isnt meant to be a negative post, just a reflective post on whether the best person has been selected to do this job?

Again, without being too negative, I also have my concerns, not with Tom, I hasten to add, but with the self-appointed board. I acknowledge that the club needed something in place, but who made the decision that the people 'chosen' should be those who are on the board? What was the selection process? Rosie I can live with, but the rest? Who are some of them? What is their background?
Now... I am very pleased, of course, that we are moving on. I am delighted that we are in existence. What I'm after is a bit of a timeline, please. How long will this self-appointed 'board' be in post? What will be the process for electing officials, rather than having them appointed. If we are to operate as a club of some sort (the oft quoted members scenario, maybe), officials are always elected, with all those eligible to vote able to vote at an AGM.
Just need to know, really. Maybe a question nfor Monday?
I'm not at all questionning anybody's integrity - please don't think that. I'm questionning process, however.

If you want to know the backgrounds of the board members I'd suggest reading the official website.

i must apologise upfront, despite me saying on here everyone needs to move on and believe me i really wanted to.However with tom little now esconced in this position and his continued support of the past regime and continually knocking back any questions asked about the club during greens tenure.the untruths which he helped bring to the public arena and the total lack of acceptance he backed the wrong horse despite being told otherwise. Although its very important that people have time to give to the club and tom certainly does that. A case proving my point was the way he behaved at the meeting at ocs , organising collections etc for the bond etc.

Don't just pick on him, all he did was support whoever was in charge. It wouldnt matter who it was! Thats the way he operates, seen it so many times in Industry, whoever the gaffers are they will have their 'people'. So in that case you might as well let him do it, because the people he is working for. i.e The Advisory board' WERE the real people who supported Green, not Little Tom. It suits them, and it suits Tom. Im just gonna watch the lads play rugby, and see what happens. Hope it works for all of us.

The point is missed. I do not question the board, or their integrity. I question on whose authority they have been appointed. How long are they in post? Will there be election to the board/committee? Otherwise we are back to one person holding power.
Just would like to know.

Nige,
I truly understand that you are frustrated, annoyed and maybe angry about Tom being in the position of liaison. But the fact is Tom is in that position, and he has the energy and enthusiasm to make a difference if people come forward with ideas to drive our club forward.
If you are upset with me siding with reason then so be it. I am absolutely fed up to the back teeth with people having a pop at each other. Our club is still in danger of being wound up. For the sake of our club let’s stick together and if you cannot perform that task, then…

Hi dave, im not upset at you at all for not agreeing with me, thats the way the world works, we all have our opinions,i dont post my thoughts for popularity or to seek aproval.
However i am a little upset that you appear to be suggesting that if i cant get behind tom then i should buggar off!
:-(
You of all people should be able to respect everyones views, whilst i support and will remain positive with what is happening at the club, it does not mean we have to blindly agree with everything and everyone involved at the club. And to suggest just because i disagree with this one aspect that i should.....!!!? In my opinion Is a bit off if im being honest.

Hear Hear. Tom's job is to PASS QUESTIONS/SUGGESTIONS ETC TO THE PERSON BEST SUITED FOR THAT SPECIFIC ENQUIRY. If any of you spend enough time with the new bOard to be able to do that job better than him and have the time and willingness to do so then maybe you should have said so.
Such a shame some folk are too busy loitering on the past to help the club move forward. Its surely not constructive sitting around slating the people who are actually pulling their finger out by doing something constructive to help the club they know and love.
Green's gone now, and whilst the club staff are willing to act on communications, the number of enquiries and ideas are high, so rather than employ someone who'd require a salary to do that, a person who cares enough about the club offered his personal time to help out where he could.
If everyone started focusing their attention on making things happen instead of living in the past, that unity so many supporters are working hard for would be within reach.

The problem is kelly your opinion is not formed on knowing all the facts. Although you have done a good few things, you have been involved in the club for such a small ammount of time.
So whilst i appreciate that we need to be positive, you are offering an opinion whilst having very little knowledge of what had led up to my post. Some things that have been said and done over the years you would not be aware of.
I do feel that it is a bit patronising to be honest that after not knowing the facts you can tell me/us not to be critical.
And i was not slating the person, i was suggesting there would be better people to do the job. Believe if i had of wanted to slate a person i would have included a lot more details, but that WOULD be inapropiate.

Nige... (sigh) I DONT CARE......
....Whether you consider me patronising for not having an informed opinion of tom. Whether I have been around for 5 minutes or 5 decades, again I DONT CARE.
I am not interested in who said what when and who got upset by it, who stamped their feet, who apologised, who didnt and who as a result was offended.
What matters, IN MY OPINION (and I think it would truly be patronising to tell me I am not entitled to it) is that when the club have a shed load of enquiries, someone needs to direct them to the right person.
Tom doesnt need an opinion on the enquiries or the responses, he just has to direct them to Chris Gregory, Mike Thompson, or whoever else as appropriate. If someone else could have done it better, they might have offered their services. They did not. Therefore Tom was allocated the responsibility. BIG DEAL.
At 8.40 this morning I was sleeping peacefully in my bed having just got home (I spent last night at the hospital with my dad who is very ill on the surgical ward at walsgrave) but was awakened by a text informing me that Nige is "offended by the posting about things I have no knowledge of". With a brief explanation of what the "real" problem with Tom is.
Tom is in a position where he can help. If you felt there was someone who could do a better job there was nothing stopping you from contacting the club to say so.
People live their lives for this forum and its sad. I'm living mine for my dad today. Thankfully my life revolves around neither this forum, the latest cov rugby gossip or the fixtures.
Seriously Nige, if you have a problem, and dont think Tom is right for the job, why post personal comments about individuals on here, you know tom, why dont you talk to him instead of writing about him?? If people do that about you or your family on here it offends you. Shoe off.... other foot????
OR alternatively maybe let sleeping dogs lie, accept that tom is the liaison officer, but direct your questions, suggestions and helpful input through an alternative source ie the main office, tel 024 76 231 001.
If you'd taken that avenue in the first place maybe someone else, not Tom wouldnt be taking the slack for offering to do something positive.
If everyone who had offended anyone else was denied all responsibility we'd all be unemployed.... Nige I dare say you offend people all the time but they dont necessarily bear grudges or hold it against you.
I really am going back to bed now.

i have purposely not replied to these comments because i think personal vendettas have no place at this club, nigel you have had 2 occassions to be able to raise it with me and have declined to do so but attack me on a public forum.
i do not intend to discuss it further but will continue to help out the club i have supported for 55 years in whatever way i can.

Well what to say..?
I text kelly this morning after my post, out of respect for her and to move this discussion away from the board as i got to know kelly over christmas, and felt it was more appropiate to let her know why i had my thoughts on Tom, and invited her to discuss this with me over the phone. and we have text eachother many times over the last few months, the previous last being on monday.
I have appolgised to her for disturbing her, however obviously i am not to know she has some personal trauma at the moment, and wish her family well.
1) If anyone reads my post to kelly (above)or any other posts at no point EVER have i said that kelly or anyone else is not entitled to their opinion or thoughts. I am a massive advocat of free speech. i was saying that her opinion was formed on not knowing all the history of what has gone on, as she has only been involved with the club for a short while.
2) I did not personally criticise Tom, nothing i said was hearsay or lies. I said "that because of his actions in the past i felt IMO he was not the most appropiate person for the job."
3) I have offered the club my help. last friday i spoke to Eric and asked if i could do anything such as stewarding etc, and Mickey doyle has my mobile number if there is anything i can do, i am still here. Although i did turn down the opportunity to do the PA! However i dont feel i have to justify my allegiance or loyalty to the club, those that know me know where my heart is, even if they dont necersairly agree with my opinions, and also know i am willing to put my time in if asked as i have done in the past.
Your right about tom, perhaps i should have spoken to him, and believe me i had /have every intention to, but have not had the opportunity to take him aside to let him know how i feel as there always seems to be other people around. infact i said this very thing to another supporter on monday before the meeting.
I am actuely aware that this thread has now turned into a bit of a petty argument between me and kelly, which is a shame because she has done some good stuff for the club over the last few months. Im going to suggest to kelly that we have a chat at the game on friday.

Tom: on the 3 occasions we have seen eachother, people have been around, and i have been civil with you. It was very diffcult to take you aside and explain how your actions in the past have left me distrusting you. Again i intended to do so on monday but the opportunity did not arise.
I will now PM you so i can explain how your actions have affected how myself and others feel about you, even if the others may not be as willing to share there opinions of you on here as i am. Which is fair enough.
Just for the record, i do not think i have 'attacked' anyone, my original post IMO was very tame and thought through.

Nige its all political, mindless handbags at 20 paces and I refuse to be a part of that, also I can't be at the game on friday, my family are more important at the moment.
And my point above was not that I was disturbed, because lets face it 2 hours later I'm still awake but my point is that to me personally and i hope to others too there are more important things in life GOING FORWARD than Andrew Green and those who may in the past have supported him.
As I said before, maybe it's best to let sleeping dogs lie.
Tom is harmless, he forwards emails and writes the match report. No big deal, someone has to do it.

I really think it is about time all concerned put Cov's past issues that are still causing negitivity somewhere they can be forgotten.
If new people also come into the club then hopefully that will generate new ideas, with no baggage being carried from past times.
I am a recent new addition to this site, and have very little knowledge, or interest, on what went on before.
What i do care about is seeing Cov rugby continue to play and reform for the good of the club and the fans

Cov mike i completely understand what you are saying and there are many things that have now been forgotten by long standing supporters, no need to list them here.
And happily there does seem to be a to be a trend on here and in most cirlces for things to be more positive. Which is great for everyone..
But there is a worrying trend on here, in that when anyone posts anything that is not necersarily in agreement with what is going on, they are accused of being negative. I think there has to be a difference between being 'negative' or 'critical' of something that is happening or going on.
The board in this new era should not be adverse or shy away from citicism, in fact any truely open organistaion should welcome feedback both critical and positive. Obviously it should be in the appropiate manner, and i will say sometimes things arent written in the appropiate manner. But debate and criticism should be welcomed not lambasted and labled with the title of being 'negative'

I have said what i felt i wanted to say on here regarding the position of supporters liason, and i dont think any other comments from me will contribute anything more.
Well as this seems to have got a bit public now, and im sure i am partly responsible for this. So I would just like to say that Tom and i have arranged to meet up to discuss things on friday night before the game.
