Coventry devastated by Macclesfield defeat

PETE Glackin has revealed Coventry were left devastated by the feeling of being short-changed for a second week running.The Butts Park outfit travelled to Macclesfield on Sunday and despite putting up what their backs coach felt was an excellent performance, were beaten 37-21.It was the second time in consecutive matches the Blue and Whites have performed creditably against a top-four side but have seen their efforts go unrewarded.

Just as they had been against Cambridge the week before Cov were close to causing an upset at Priory Park only to see squandered opportunities punished in the most ruthless fashion.

Having cut the hosts 17 point advantage to just six with a spirited display, Coventry were hit with a late score with only eight minutes to go.

And Glackin admitted it was hard to take. “We played really well and have for the last two weeks so the boys were absolutely devastated at the end of the game,” the former Rugby Lions coach said. “The effort they have put in over the last fortnight has been brilliant and to come away with nothing is so harsh. The only thing we have been missing is the result.”

And at one point in the second half they looked as though they would get that as tries from Seb Pearson and Dale Ager put them within striking distance.
