COVENTRY flanker Alex Nash will captain Warwickshire on their return to the top tier Bill Beaumont Cup level of the County Championship, kicking off on Saturday against holders Lancashire at Sedgley Park (3.45pm).

Nash is one of 16 players from the National Division One club who have committed themselves to the competition with further pool games against Cheshure at Butts Park Arena (May 14) and away to Yorkshire (May 21).

“Preparations have been good and the squad have been working hard towards the first championship game,” said head coach Pete Glackin.

“We have retained the core of last season’s successful squad who took us back to the top level of the championship, which gives us a great foundation for another strong campaign.”

Not quite Kimbo. In the heyday of County Championships, a non Cov player would struggle to get into the side. Having said that the squad was nowhere near the size it is today.

I was referring to the fact that there is a full XV of Cov players within the squad.....

this is good news, instead of going on their holidays, like the recent teams, the NEW Cov players are showing this sort of commitment, it should help them as a team, which they have become this season, looking forward to the home game at the BPA, on the 21st May
