WELL what a great weekend of rugby. We put in an outstanding performance to demolish high-flying Fylde and England similarly put in a great display to turn over the French in Paris.
After one of our worst displays of the season up in Fylde earlier in the season this weekend there was a little bit of revenge to exact, and my god the boys went out on to the pitch absolutely flying and set about business.
In the first 25 minutes we tore Fylde apart opening up a 25-0 lead with fantastic interplay between forwards and backs putting together some rugby which would have opened up any team.
Credit also has to go to the coaches this weekend as we prepared to play a Fylde team from which we knew exactly what to expect.
It’s the first time in my career I have seen a team play for 80 minutes without once putting boot to ball and in the end that was their downfall.
We knew how dangerous their backs are and even on Saturday they showed some glimpses but we knew if we put pressure on them and blitzed the ball carrier we would take away their time and space and in doing this kill their game.
Our boys did this brilliantly and applied superb pressure and put in big hits throughout the whole match.
Fortunately for us their coaches or their decision makers were either too arrogant to change their style or just maybe not intelligent enough on the day.
Even when it looked as though they were back in the game they continued to throw the ball around on their own line and our defence forced errors and we clinically killed the game off to win 39-26.
