COVENTRY plan to be the party poopers when National League One champions-elect Jersey come to the Butts Park Arena tomorrow.
A win will see the high-flying visitors crowned as champions and promoted to the Championship after just one season in the third tier, and a large contingent of supporters is making the journey from the Channel Islands to cheer their men home.
But Cov insist that they aren’t there just to make up the numbers and are determined to finish their home programme on a winning note for their own supporters.
“It’s a tough challenge and a big ask for us with the way things have been going,but hopefully we can rain on their parade if we get it right,” said Cov’s rugby director Phil Maynard.
“As long as we work hard for each other, put in a performance and stay in the game, we can beat them – we have beaten two of the top three teams in the division at home, Ealing and Fylde, and it would be fantastic to finish on a hat-trick.
“We know we are the underdogs but we have belief in our ability and stranger things have happened.”
