Richie Baxter's Testimonial Match

Monday May 9th at Sandy Park, ko 7:45pm

 

After 13 loyal years at Exeter Rugby Club, Richie Baxter has been awarded a testimonial year, and on the 9th May at 7.45pm at Sandy Park, a testimonial game has been arranged.

Richie’s team, coached by his brother Rob, features many well  known past players including Phil Sluman,Bob Armstrong ,Keith Brooking ,Gary Willis and Tony Yapp with many internationals both past and present also appearing. The likes of Lee Mears, a present British Lion, Dave Sims of Gloucester and England, Ian Sanders of Bath and England, Lee Garvis of Pontypridd and Wales, and not forgetting Chiefs own skills coach Ricky Pellow.

The opposing team coached by Tony Walker and Keith Fleming stars many local players from neighbouring clubs and a good contingent from Cornwall. Richie has had a fantastic career and one that is truly deserved by the honour of this testimonial.

anyone know of any team rumours?

i have heard the international team includes Borthwick and Wilkinson but I think this may only be made up rumours (Sm56)

Whoever is in the team it will be another chance to go to celebrate this season's achievements at Sandy Park and a great opportunity to say thanks to Richie for his outstanding service to the club.

Tickets for the 7:45 KO on Monday 9 May are available from the ticket office and on the official website, £10 for adults, £5 for 12-16 year olds and free for under 12's.

Hopefully the Club will be promoting it to what is likely to be a sell out on Saturday.

richie will be on the palm fm breakfast show tomorrow morning (friday) for a quick chat about the wasps game and also a bit about the testimonial match - 105.5fm for those in south Devon and online at www.palm.fm for those out of the area.

Sadly I can't see his name in the list in today's E&E ( and also in yesterday's Independent) - I like you would have loved to have seen him on the pitch.
