Exeter Chiefs look forward to hosting Newcastle Falcons at Sandy Park

The Chiefs look forward to hosting the side they played 5 times last season for their first home game of the 2011/12 season.  However things are somewhat different this time around.  Before last season the Chiefs were marked out as likely relegation prospects by almost every pundit but this season the Falcons have been given this dubious honour by many.  Well, we all know how accurate the pundits were last season and I guess Falcons will be doing everything in their power to prove them wrong.  That should add some spice to Falcons performances although they didn't start the season with the bang that Chiefs did they're more than likely to be up for this game. 

Last week saw the Chiefs return triumphant from Leicester having defeated the Tigers whilst Bath came away with the points from Newcastle.  Although this was a landmark victory for the Chiefs Rob Baxter and the players will have their feet firmly on the ground and will prepare for this game as they would for any other.  As Tommy Hayes has said the only aim Exeter Chiefs have is to try and improve with every game, give it 100%, play with intensity, passion, pride and most of all enjoyment.  The latter is IMO one of the main factors in how well the Chiefs have adapted to life in the Premiership.  It's also infectious with The Tribe still feeling the warmth since 26/05/10.  The whole squad must take great credit for this as they continue to share the pleasure they get from performing on the big stage with fans at both home and away games.  In fact we're building a very big Tribe down in Devon, one I'm proud to be part of.

So, what about this week?  Well I'm not going to sit on the fence.  I'll predict a win for the Chiefs at fortress Sandy Park although the weather suggests it might be Windy Park again this week!!  This could be a very good thing with kicking difficult we could see the forwards grinding out good ball to set our exciting backline loose.

I hope Rob names the same squad as last week minus the injured because I think it would be an injustice to drop any single one of them after last weeks efforts.
The echo today says Tommy Hayes will join Peter Short at 4 and 5 with Ali Mulldowney on the bench,but this is only there prediction.

Agree with ur prediction MM as does Austin Healey who predicts a Chiefs victory according to his Twitter page! Come on u Chiefs!

as long as chiefs are patient and build the points up steadily hopefully the tries will come and maybe at some point the 1st premiership WBP (although possibly not this saturday if the conditions are difficult)
