Too Many Pens
Danny To Return?

Inevitably Jonny May was in fire form against his former pals running in two tries in our 34-10 defeat at Tigers but it was our own performance which has cherry and white supporters scratching their heads.
Normally a high penalty count against a side shows they were under sustained pressure. It wasn't like that at Welford Road as we enjoyed the bigger share of posession specially in the first half and yet we only had two Billy Twelvetrees pens to show for our efforts.
Johan Ackermann makes the point that the win against Chiefs saw us only give away two penalties - therein lies the difference.
We were also on the wrong side of too many turnovers - specially when we were attacking. Admittedly it was a side missng a lot of regulars including Ollie Thorley who was a late withdrawl thanks to a calf injury.
So we go into the next round of European games in fourth place in the Premiership with 32 points - we might have settled for that back in September.
We will have to be more precise this Friday when we host Munster. Danny Cipriani could well be back following his chest muscle injury and that alone would make a big difference.pqs: qs:
