New Craven Pain for the Celtic Crusaders

The Celtic Crusaders crashed out of the Challenge Cup at their first hurdle with another hefty defeat at Hull Kingston Rovers. Cru were beaten five tries to one as John Dixon's men, missing a handful of first-team regulars, crashed to yet another defeat. Around twenty loyal Cru supporters made the long trip to Humberside as the hosts ran out 32-6 winners.
It's
going to be a long hard season. Dreams of a Cup run to compliment the scrap at
the wrong end of the Super League table were dashed on Friday evening as Hull
KR cruised to a 32-6 victory.
The
Robins led by twelve points at the interval thanks to tries from Kris Welham
and Clint Newton. Daniel Fitzhenry extended their advantage soon after the
re-start - but Tangata-Toa, playing against his former club, gave the tiny band
of loyal travelling fans a glimmer of hope as his score and Josh Hannay's conversion
cut the deficit to twelve points.
As
the clock ticked down, Cru wasted a superb opportunity to get themselves back
into contention as they failed to take advantage of an excellent attacking
position soon after Tangata's score. KR were boosted and late tries from Liam
Colbon and Jake Webster sealed their spot in the fifth round of the Challenge
Cup.
Gutted.
The
Wembley dream is over before it ever really got going. We now face the long
hard slog of the league campaign and Monday's much-anticipated clash with
rivals Harlequins provides a genuine opportunity for the club to bag its first
ever top flight win.

I do think we were unlucky to play Salford too early and if we played them today would me looking at 2 points, bit wins are going to me hard fight this year. We lack strength in depth so are suffering right now but the wins will come I am convinced.
