Chairmans Briefing at Old Deer Park
By Dragons' Den
April 13 2014
London Welsh Chairman Bleddyn Phillips will meet with supporters at Old Deer Park on Monday 14th April at 7pm
There will be a meeting at Old Deer Park where Bleddyn Phillips will bring fans up to date on recent developments within the club and plans for the future.
This comes on the back of the news that the club has recently signed a new three year deal which will see them playing their home games at the Kassam stadium.
Bleddyn will lay out the clubs plans for its future in Oxford whilst keeping it's links with Old Deer Park and update on other recent developments.
Come along all welcome and have your chance to put your questions to the club.

Sadly i won't be there! If one of the faithful who are going would/could be kind enough to post a brief statement of what the key points were at this important meeting, i would be very grateful for their help in this matter. PADDYTAF.

Was that less than 24 hours notice? annoying that I am free but only read this at 6.40pm on the day concerned.

Since Friday, actually - but enough time for anyone checking team news or match reports to have seen it.

We may have seen it, but there are much more important things in life than a meeting at ODP regarding our/your rugby club. If, however, that is not the case then you would need to get out more. I love LONDON WELSH but it most certainly is not my main/only reason for living. If the club want more respect, and more support, they need to arrange things etc with a little more notice. PADDYTAF.

On the one hand, it's good that the club want to communicate with the fans, but on the other I agree that three days' notice isn't really enough. Sad thing is, Derek, a few years ago we would have prioritised such a meeting over our families and work commitments.

The issues discussed included some where negotiations are ongoing so should not really be broadcast on social media/forums. That said the mood was positive and there was a feeling of excitement over our promotion push & future. Feel free to ask at the next match.

Whaaaaaa? I'm sure that if there where things that shouldn't be shared in public then they wouldn't have been discussed at an open meeting. To those of us that are keen to know what's in the pipeline for LW that were unable to attend, surely it would be okay to discuss some of the details on a fan base forum.or did Bleddyn whisper "ssshhhh don't tell anyone" sorry i know that looks sarcastic I'm just frustrated I wasn't there

As Bleddyn did say really for soft release as some of it's not definitely confirmed yet, so some things confirmed probably ok to broadcast somethings unconfirmed so best not to shout to loudly and some things ideas so best kept amongst those who attended and friends, so that by the time they hit the general public they are either confirmed or dead.

As an outsider I know I have no right to comment. But, to me, this thread sort of sums up the cause of some of the frustration that appears to be present amongst London Welsh supporters. i.e. An Oxford based club holds a briefing in Richmond on a Monday night, and those attending will only share the contents with their 'friends'. You would have thought the club could have minuted the key points they were willing to share.
That aside - really looking forward to Friday night. Our coach is full of praise for Welsh - he is of the opinion that you are the best all round team in the Championship.

If you look at the problems that our dear friend Mark Smith had after he published a full transcript of the fans' forum at Newcastle a few weeks ago, it's fair to expect that those who were there don't want to report all of the news on here until it's been confirmed via official channels. That's always been the way with any of these meetings that I've attended in the past.
