Emerging Ireland's Summer Triumphs

Whilst the first XV have been recently winning the Six Nations tournament and recording back-to-back victories in Argentina, the 'Emerging Ireland' squad have been adding to the multitude of positives by claiming the Nations Cup in Romania, after three highly satisfactory wins which augur well for the future. There will be great competition for places in the first XV, come this autumn. Bravo!

The results were:

Romania 10 EMERGING IRELAND 31; in Bucharest; 22nd June

(tries from: Copeland, Gilroy, penalty try, Ryan)

 

EMERGING IRELAND 51 Uruguay 3; in Bucharest; 18th June

(tries from: Butler [2], Gilroy, Holland, Kearney, Marshall, penalty try)

 

EMERGING IRELAND 66 Russia 0 [Match anbandoned after 45 minutes!]; in Bucharest; 13th June

(tries from: Conway [3], Gilroy [2], Annett, Copeland, Keatley, Marshall, O'Donnell)

 

The highly regarded Robin Copeland was named as the Man of the Tournament, while Ian Keatley and JJ Hanrahan proved quite accurate at kicking at goal.
