Matt Mullan says Wasps RFC home security will be vital...

...in Aviva Premiership semi-final push.

Wasps saw their unbeaten home league record go up in smoke last time out but Matt Mullan is confident fortress Ricoh Arena can play an important part in their run-in.

Sixth in the Aviva Premiership Rugby table – just three points off the top four and a semi-final – things are ticking along nicely in Coventry with five rounds to go.

It would be even better had Dai Young’s side beaten Saracens last time out - a 26-17 defeat bringing to an end the last unbeaten home record in the competition this season and sending them into the LV= Cup break frustrated.

However, after a trip to Franklin’s Gardens on Friday, Wasps will welcome fellow top-four hopefuls Leicester Tigers and Exeter Chiefs to their new home before the regular season comes to a close – with trips to London Welsh and London Irish also on the agenda.

“It is a mixed bag,” said Mullan. “The only benefit would be that we have got the teams around us at home, but you can’t think that far ahead.

“We need to make sure that we perform on Friday. It sounds like a cliché but you do have to take it one week at a time. It is so tight up there and easy to quickly lose ground - we saw that when we drew with Newcastle Falcons.

“We said all along the target is top six and anything else would be a bonus. That is definitely the target and we know that we are running out of games.
