Nothing much happened in the first half. About 15 mins in Marland Yarde scored a try. Soon after, Calvisano’s no 6 was sin-binned. Immediately after he was sent off, Calvisano scored when, from behind their 22, they intercepted a miss pass and their player ran the whole pitch to score their first try. So far it was not going well, but Quins had most of the possession and territory, and had me excited for what would happen next. Also, there was a group of a dozen or so Calvisano supporters who kept bursting into a cheery supporting song. Everyone clapped after they finished. 36 mins in and not much had gone on. Quins got a penalty and decided to run and Kyle Sinckler stepped a back to score.
Then it was half time
Quins kicked straight out from the kick-off, but won it back soon after. The ball was kicked ahead but Calvisano touched it down over their own try line for a 22. The ball made its way to halfway, where Quins slowly worked their way back to the try-line. Jamie Roberts made a good break, but Quins then lost the ball due to a miss pass, and Calvisano pushed them back to halfway. Soon after that though, Jack Clifford ran and scored from about the 22 from an inside pass after Jamie Roberts got through 4 people.
The score by now was 21 Quins - 7 Calvisano. Could Quins get the bonus point try? The answer came almost immediately. They scored the try and were rewarded with a bonus point. Marland Yarde did a brilliant run, then he passed it to Ben Botica, who passed it back to him, who passed it to Chisholm, who scored. Unfortunately, Botica missed the conversion, but it was one of the best tries of the season so far.
The next chance for either side to score was a penalty to Calvisano, but they missed the kick. Quins knocked it on afterwards. Before the Calvisano scrum, Dickson and Treadwell came on. Quins got a free kick from the scrum. After making ground, Quins got a penalty and Jamie Roberts scored on his Quins debut.
Later on Quins regained possession. The referee disappointed a lot of people when he stopped a Calvisano try off an intercepted miss pass, due to a previous knock on. Quins got a penalty and Stanley passed it to Chisholm who passed it to Botica who fumbled it on the 5 yard line. There was a Quins free kick from the scrum and Charlie Walker scored. Quins did a quick throw from the Calvisano kick and Botica made a break to about the 15m line. Calvisano turned it over and cleared, but Quins did a quick throw again. Charlie Walker beat several defenders then passed to Botica, Botica then scored in the corner (he actually moved more into the corner as if to make it harder for himself to convert) then converted it.
Quins made a break from their own 22 and Ross Chisholm passed to Swiel. Quins kicked it and play continued. Calvisano knocked the ball on so it was Quins’ advantage and after a variety of people from both teams diving on the ball to try to get it, Rob Buchanan gave it to Stanley, who gave it to Dickson who scored.
Quins knocked the ball on and Calvisano won the scrum. Quins were pinged then for what I think was a collapsing maul? Anyway, Quins got the ball back and kicked it to give Calvisano a lineout on their 5m. After a bit of game play Quins get a penalty. And soon after that, Calvisano get another yellow card. It was then 80:00 and a scrum to Calvisano. However, they couldn’t manage to take advantage. It finished with Quins 59 - Calvisano 7, it was a very interesting and exciting game, Calvisano might not have won, but they fought till the end.
