Harlequin Ladies April Girls Coaching Day Report

Harlequin Ladies ran another Girls Rugby Coaching Day at the Twickenham Stoop Stadium on Saturday 22 April 2006 before the NEC Harlequins v Bedford game.

Eleven girls between 7 and 12 years of age took part in the day that was coached by Mel Antao, Michelle Kendell and Katy Strudwick; and assisted by Harlequin Ladies 1st XV players Lauren Cooper, Anna Hinds, Jane Hoyle and Rhiannon Needham. Each participant went away with a Harlequin Ladies Youth Academy t-shirt and draw string bag.

The standard varied from complete beginners to those girls that have played mini or girls rugby for club sides within the local area. The session concentrated mostly on handling and communication, with the girls finishing the day by showing off their kicking and catching abilities in a spirited game of rugby rounders.
