In the early to mid 2000s, Mark Coleman (WestMidsSaint) was one of the most popular contributors to the comeonyousaints.com messageboard. His wit and wisdom via poetry brought a much missed levity to the board...
A POME FROM WESTMIDSSAINT
Mark was a much loved member of the comeonyousaints.com community. His wit and wisdom kept many of us going during gloomy periods (like continually losing to Leicester). His cardiac problems in Biarritz in 2002 led to the formation of Saints With Heart, which has raised over £150,000 for the British Heart Foundation. Sadly, he passed away from a second heart attack in September 2007.
I'm guessing this "pome" would have been written in the Spring of 2007, shortly before Saints were relegated. Those of you that were around at that time will note the issues of the time to which WMS refers (no cameras, no large banners!). For younger readers, just have a read - Almost 10 years after his sad passing, his words are as pertinent as ever... (Phil)

I miss WMS very much, and always think of him when we play Worcester as he had such an affinity with them.
For those who never knew him.... just think of the nicest person that you know, double it, add on about a million and you are getting close to the kind of person Mark was.
Having not been on the forum for the "golden age" thanks from me also. A real pleasure to get a glimpse of the sort of thing people sometimes hark back to.
The last time I saw Mark was down at Cambourne when we played Pirates on a lovely, sunny, late summer's day. Sitting around munching on fabulous pasties and quaffing Betty Stoggs with about an hour to go before kick off, Mark said,
"I don't want to worry you but has anyone seen the team yet?" as the team marched into view behind him and were spotted by the rest of us over his left shoulder!
Much hilarity and the players must have wondered why a group of us were rolling on the floor in fits of laughter. Comedy is all about the timing, consciously or otherwise.
That was Mark's last game as far as I can remember. Just as Saints were laying waste to Div 1, Mark was getting his "pomes" approved by St Peter
That book is one of the best things to come out of SWH. Have a well thumbed copy that makes me smile everytime WMS was someone who kept on giving probably without realising it.
Indeed lump in throat moment there phil thanks! Indeed Stockers very fond memories of that tour to Penzance and Cambourne David (Connect) Me David (Marks bro) and the man himself had great time. The great cat catcher laugh in the pub (can't remember the name) the same wehre Mark was 'ambushed' on returning from the loo by a local who had been asleep on the bar who roused himself clocked Marks GB&G shirt and anounced "Oirates are gonna ram a red hot pastie up Saints Bum (he used the A word) then fell back asleep on the bar. Yes St Ken and when Mark met you he made you feel that you were the most important person he'd met that day sorely missed.We shall raise a glass today.
This thread has brought me.to tears. Mark was such a wonderful gentlemen and I met so many of you doing the saints with hearts walk. Was lovely to meet up with so many of you today. Saints are always close to my heart because of Mark
If you can buy a coy of the book of pomes please do so as it shows how talented Mark was.
And likewise with Worcester Tracey. When they announced the new generation defibrillator's arrival I know WMS was in the minds of all of us in Row A of the Tetleys as well as other parts of the ground.Once a Saint, always a Saint (however bad it gets)
As another example of this and a mention of Lammy in the 'pome' Lammy spots my daughter in her Saints shirt this afternoon in the stands at Treviso.He finds time for a quick hello and a rendition of 'Oh Wendy' before kick off and another chat after the game. Another true Saint
