After three warm up matches for the Ironmen, the season begins in earnest on Sunday (19th February) with a League One Cup home tie against London Skolars at The Wern in Merthyr Tydfil. This will be the club's first competitive fixture under the Ironmen name and it is good that the mach is a home tie. The league seaon also opens with a home match against Whitehaven on Sunday March 5th.

The London Skolars match kicks off at 2.30pm and full details of ticket prices can be found at the club's official site www.ironmenrl.wales

The Whitehaven game is a 3.00pm kick off.

The Ironmen lose to London and bow out of the League One cup - the result 16-24.

The Cup action continues next week with Oxford RL at home in the third round of the Challenge Cup.

As match reports go that's at the 'brief end' - Veni, vidi, vici
Has early season optimism evaporated?

I was not at the match so only put the score on jd.

My first game of the season will be the Whitehaven match as I'm in London next Sunday.

I am always optimistic!
