I think a key issue is the brush brought in many who underperformed and have took big wages to sign them. We've lost some great talent who wanted to stay and not necessarily a lot of money

I feel there is something going on behind the scenes which will reduce us to a part timeproffesional club like some of others in the Championship. If I am wrong and we go up we haven't got the players to compete and who is going to join us. Tired old journey men who are in it for a season and as much as they can make. Also our results will make Bristol this year look tremendous

I suspect we will hear what's in store once the season is done.
Interesting to find out who we are bringing in whatever league we are in.

The situation Carnegie are in mirrors that of last season and as pointed out at a Fans Forum means they are following a two option model for whatever comes next year as a result of the play-off conclusion.
What we are seeing now is a demonstration of what another season in the Championship might bring as opposed to the Premiership option which will obviously mean wholesale changes and a largely unrecognisable squad next season.

Although I hope for a positive outcome over two legs against the Exiles my head says we are sticking with the Championship!

Rocky has hit the nail on the head in his post above.

Can't help thinking that as soon as play offs are over and we're consigned to the Championship again there's a big announcement coming....but it won't be good news.

Management has a lot to answer for.

Secretly I don't think the management don't want us to go up. It would mean them having to find she'd loads of money to pay for players, poor home attendency. The visitors will supply most.
I believe plans are in place for us to be a placement club with Bath and anything else would spoil it.
Will be watching it from turkey on mobro

No, I can't see that. It's the exact opposite of Geechs stated vision for the club.

I think we want to go up but just haven't had the correct leadership to make it happen.

He also states he is travelling up and down, so maybe, as was suggested when he came, he had a Prem. deal lined up even before he joined us. His displays here have certainly not hindered his chances.

Surprising. Possibly the only thing he could blame the board for is appointing Redpath and Lowes in the first place. Others no doubt feel differently, but I never thought they were right for the job just as I never thought Andy Robinson would do anything at Bristol.

Leeming, unsure which twitter mate you are referring to as i never followed the thread, if it was the welsh one he blocked me long ago :>winking smiley

I find it very difficult to comment as i bought into the Yorkshire/Geech vision and had no idea about the structure/management of the club beforehand,

my only reference points having played against Leeds back in the day and watching the bore draw against sale one gloomy Friday night back in the premiership days,

Have a great deal of sympathy for everyone who follow the club on here or Twitter, and share their frustrations, but as someone who doesn't make a great deal of money and needs to be careful where my hard earned dosh goes, i cannot and will not commit to buying a season ticket or the future of the club while being kept in the dark,

Find the whole situation sad and fear the worse going forward which is a great shame,

wishing for all home games under lights on a Friday and a competitive squad to finish at least 2nd again, but have no wish to hear the words "it would be nice to do well in the B&I cup" and "we will take it on the road again"

sadly i dont think any of my wishes will come true

Gareth was really upset, as were most of us. His Tweets were harsh but answers are needed.

Gareth is one of a few trying to keep Yorkshire Rugby in the public eye and is very passionate about supporting it.

I don't get to HC as much as I would like however, still love the club (despite them letting Phil go)!

I agree Gel, Brush had lost a lot of my respect during the year and that dig got rid of any that was left. Promotion was his job, he had the money and the freedom to recruit and he failed...simple.

He was our defence coach, our defence has been @#$%&.

Good riddance, shame his management and decision making has cost us so many players who would have stayed if it wasn't for him and his choices.

Got this in my Friday email from by Bris pal who was worried about all the doom and gloom commentary about our players leaving in drove...

"At least you have my friend George Watkins playing for you next season."

He's a winger who went from Bris to Jersey. Very pally with the Bris fans some of who had a jolly in Jersey and took in the Roth match.

Anyway - I asked for more and got this reply...

"When I spoke to George Watkins both in Jersey in March and at our last home game against Newcastle he said he had signed for Yorkshire for next season.

Will try and find out more.

He is Bristol Rugby's record try scorer in league games!!!!"

However, Jimmy did pretty well in his last stint and now has the RU experience learned from Brush. He has excellent man-management skills and now hopefully is the full package.

One thing's for sure I'll renew my ST knowing that entertaining rugby is going to be on offer next season.

And I don't get the thing about JLo's teams can't defend - unless the first line of defence is being able to hold up a scrum - which has been a problem for a few years now and has often been a decisive failing.

What have we learned? I could go on for hours but, to summarise:
1) the RL tactic of attacking from first base completely wears out the forwards in RU (think Cusack).
2) The kick-chase is a low-risk attack option and leaves your defensive line in place if you do not win the ball
3) You need a good kicker who can place the ball beyond their defenders. Sometimes the kick gets a good reward, but if not it keeps the opponents rush defence honest.

I think he has such a good salary that the club are saying they will not renew at that level - but if nothing on offer come and talk to us.

I wonder where you heard that Almo?

COME ON LEEDS.
We've been through it all together.

er #1 Almo not a great example, I fear, Cusack was having to cut out of the warm-ups because he looked completely worn out!
I don't think you can call this an RL tactic anyway. At least not when you've got Robson/Simpson or Care working this repeatedly at Wasps and Quins. The top Prem sides go for 80 mins relentlessly - speed speed speed. We'd do well to emulate this and there's been no reason not to be fitter than most of our opponents.

What will he have learned though Almo?
J-Lo's team of a couple of years ago could attack better than Brushes current side, but neither of them could defend.

That's not what I asked though. You suggested that Jimmy may have improved as a head coach as a result of having worked with Brush.

I'm suggesting that what he needs to learn is defence, and Brushes team is arguably as weak as J-Lo's in that respect.

Just look at the two RFU Championship try of the season contenders that were scored against us.

I watched both of the "tries of the season" at Ealing and the Madstad, and believe me, no-one is more frustrated by our poor defending.
I think that the standard of defence is the main difference between Premiership and Championship teams, and a major part must be because better players play in the Premiership.
Has anyone seen a Championship side with a good defence? The closest I have seen is London Irish, with Premiership-standard players, and even they conceded 6 tries at home on one occasion this season.

It must be disappointing to see the current poor defensive system when back in the Premiership days it was one of the club's key strengths. I remember a game at Bath where we won 10-8. After being under the cosh for 79 minutes I seem to recall Matt Holt running the length of the pitch and going in under the posts!

I also think it's quite interesting that all the new re-signings are on one year contracts.....

It probably suits both parties. The club can manage its budget more flexibly and the players aren't tied in if they get better offers or we slide down the league(s).

Agreed Mark we have completely lost the old ethos that we had under Phil Davies and even Neil Back to an extent. Going to be an interesting old summer for sure. Love that we've kept Elder as a side note!

I don't even know what a Tight End is!

Tightends line up on the line of Scrimmage, usually on the right hand side they are like an Aux Lineman in that can block opposing defensive linemen, or they can break up field and be used to catch the ball.

Anyway away from the stop, start, play for 30 seconds, ad break for 10 minutes version, Gareth Jones has confirmed what we all knew, Jonah and Joe off to Tiggers.

All I can say is Joe must love money more than his career, he sure won't be playing much, if at all. What an inspiration...

I think that Joe was told to get another job as we have no money. He has done his best for us this year, even made a few good tackles. I wish him good luck.

After going through the whole of the season unbeaten, Huddersfield could be the team to watch this coming season. Real ale in the club house! Also Wetherby, having been promoted unbeaten for two seasons did not disgrace themselves in Yorkshire 2 finishing the season a respectable 5th. Could do better this coming season. Again, real ale on offer in the club house! So not all doom and gloom. There is life and rugby within Yorkshire!

We need a bit of balance here: Gary Hethrington frequently walks around the ground on match day, no doubt sighing at all the empty space, but will talk to anyone who recognises him. It is not the action of someone who doesn't care.

Funnily enough, when I have turned up at Headingley or anywhere else for that matter, I am happy to have a chat with anyone that wishes to chat with me. It does not necessarily mean I care.

If Gary cared that much then he would have addressed supporters concerns a long time ago.

Who was it that started the thread about mushrooms? Gary could sort that problem out at no cost, and in a breath!

He has a role as the link to the landlords but the power now lies with David Dockray and his fellow shareholders. GH can't tell us what he doesn't know or isn't authorised to say.

Come off it Albert. Last I knew GH is our Chief Executive. As I understand it, his job description means "meeting the needs of employees, customers, investors, communities and the law". So no power then! If he does not wish to keep the customers (us) informed himself, then he has the power to instruct one of his subordinates to do so. Its called delegating I believe. Its also called customer service and it goes some way to achieving a modicum of customer satisfaction which in itself could boost the profile of the Club and even attendances..........

He might be chief executive of the Rhinos but he isn't ours. As far as I know, we don't have one. He is one of four directors of Leeds RUFC Ltd and one of seven directors of its parent company, Yorkshire Tykes Ltd. Whatever his title, he doesn't control how much money is made available to the club.

If I had all the money I've spent on drink ..... I'd spend it on drink.

Albert. What I worry about is the probable conflict of interest in that GH is tied to Leeds Rugby and Rhinos. He is primarily a League man so does he have our interests as his priority? I've nothing against GH but my concerns are the reason, amongst others, that I believe a move away from Headingley is the only way our club will survive.

I just can't see how that would happen though. It's notoriously hard to find a green field site and we don't have the funds anyway. And I can't see a ground share with a club in a lower division working. Sadly, I think the most likely outcome, if the current owners decide in a year or two that it isn't working, is that we would fold.

If I had all the money I've spent on drink ..... I'd spend it on drink.
