Throw away comment at foot of this article.

But why would he even consider doing that?

Exactly what I thought when I first read it.

Perhaps he sees that Glos can not easily be developed any further, whereas he sees that he can develop Sale in a force once more.
Or maybe they just offered more money ?

It will be the money then.

Must be dosh or bollocks. Gloucester have a decent side and look to have improved so far in the transfer stakes. A back row as Cox/Kalamafone, Morgan, Quera is pretty tasty and their first choice back line looks good too. Not much depth which could leave them vulnerable to a wasps but still its a project that looks to be moving forward and is more likely to end up winning at Twickenham than Sale at the moment.

I was with a Glaws fan today who thought if Redpath did not deliver next season after the recruitments he has made recently he would be on his way out.

He has doubts he can deliver.

Given that Redpath used to be a Sale player it seems not at all unlikely to me.

Fascinating contrast between Wasps and Sale - two 'homeless' clubs, highly dependent on their owners with historically inadequate supporter numbers - one moving into a new permanent home, with plans to move towards a sound business model based on growing supporter numbers and corporate incomes - the other in complete disarray but still spending money on players!

Stephen Jones won't be cheap, and he's not the only one !!

I think we are yet to see if Salford City Blues's master plan will come off or not. Busiest motoway junction outside of London or something like that? Opposite a massive shopping centre sounds good in December. Only one road in and out. It may all go swimmingly but not many of the other ground moves ever have.

This sounds better planned at least - and there are plans to improve access. At least it sounds like there is a long term plan.

You've not really mentioned Glaws there yet. I love going to Kingsholm every time as a hack and a punter - but it strikes me that the club isn't the best in anything it does and I'm talking long term stuff rather than players and formations.

Take the eye patch off for a second but..

The relatively new stand isn't as good as say anything at Franklin's Gardens. (It doesnt even offer clear sightlines!!!)
The attendance levels arent as good as Leicester, Northampton or Harlequins
The corporate side of things isnt as well developed as at Leicester

It COULD rival the best clubs in England but it isn't and isn't likely to, for a while..I'd say Sale is a likelier bet for honours than Gloucester in next two or three years.

Strange you come to that conclusion Chris.

Whilst I can't disagree with most of your post, I believe on the pitch is where Glaws look particularly strong, especially if they fulfil their obvious potential which they haven't always done in the past.

Stephen Jones is 34, in two years time he'll be 36. Injuries permitting, he's sure to lose his pace, meaning all he can do is can sit back in the pocket and kick but will be able to do little else.
